Anointed Authors on Tour consists of seven award-winning, bestselling authors of Christian fiction and non-fiction publications with a commitment to write and/or publish integrity-based literature, touring as a testament to the power of using gifts and talents for God’s glory. Over the next two weeks, plan to meet Kendra Norman Bellamy, Tia McCollors, Vanessa Miller, Michelle Stimpson, Shewanda Riley, and Dr. Vivi Monroe Congress. Each of these authors have current and upcoming book releases that are must-reads for your summer reading list.
Today, let’s take a peek at Kendra, Tia and Vanessa’s personal summer reading list.
Kendra Norman-Bellamy
CURRENT BOOK RELEASE: The Lyons Den
National bestselling novelist, Kendra Norman-Bellamy describes herself in a single word: Blessed! In addition to writing novels, Kendra is founder of KNB Publications, LLC and she is also a contributing writer for several magazines.
Kendra is the founder of Cruisin’ for Christ, a groundbreaking Christian cruise set in place to celebrate artists and artistries that glorify God. Kendra resides in Stone Mountain, Georgia with her husband and two daughters. Some of her novels include The Grace Series (For Love & Grace, Because of Grace and More Than Grace), A Love So Strong, Crossing Jhordan’s River, Three Fifty-Seven AM, One Prayer Away, In Greene Pastures, Battle of Jericho, The Lyons Den and This Far By Faith.
Who are your favorite authors?
There are many authors whose works I love to read. Especially with the expansion of the Christian fiction genre. Ironically enough, my all-time favorite male and female writers are not producers of Christian fiction. Maya Angelou has always been my best loved female writer. I became entralled by her poetry as a child, and I’ve followed her career, reading most of the books – poetry, fiction, and nonfiction – that she has produced. My all-time male writer, to my dismay, retired from the craft some years ago. Timmothy McCann was an awesome romance writer, but he has since put down the pen and picked up the Bible. He’s a pastor now, and his church is right here in Atlanta. I miss his storytelling, but I sure can’t be mad at the trade-off he made.
What books are on your summer reading list?
I wish I could say that my summer will be spent relaxing and reading, but it won’t. I am the copy editor for the Christian imprint of a major publishing house, so I will definitely be doing some summer reading, but it will be in the capacity of an editor. The truth of the matter is that my summer reading list will consist of whatever manuscipts the publisher sends to me for editing. In addition to that, I have a couple of writing deadlines of my own that will keep me busy this summer. So not much casual reading will be taking place for me.
Tia McCollors
CURRENT BOOK RELEASE: The Last Woman Standing
Bestselling author Tia McCollors entices the taste buds of her readers with a sweet blend of faith and fiction in her inspirational novels, A Heart of Devotion (January 2005), Zora’s Cry (June 2006) and The Truth About Love (March 2008). After leaving a 10-year career in the corporate arena as a public relations professional, Tia has emerged as a steadfast author of faith-based books.
As a founding author with the Anointed Authors On Tour, (AAOT) she has teamed with six other award-winning, best-selling authors of Christian fiction and non-fiction. Together, they have committed to write and publish integrity-based literature, touring as a testament to the power of using their gifts and talents for God’s glory.
Who are your favorite authors?
Would it sound vain if I said, “Me”? (Laughing). That’s such a hard question because there are so many writers I enjoy. I try to expand my horizons by reading different things…though I must say I stay away from hard-core urban novels as well as erotica. I tend to enjoy literary fiction, though. Did you notice how I didn’t really answer the question?
What books are on your summer reading list?
I’m a featured author at the Faith and Fiction Retreat this year that’s being held in Orlando, Florida. That’s why the current books on my list are those written by the other authors. I’m checking out Up Pops the Devil (Angela Benson), The Bishop’s Daughter (Tiffany Warren) and The Devil is a Lie (ReShonda Tate Billingsley).
Vanessa Miller
CURRENT BOOK RELEASE: Through the Storm
Vanessa Miller of Dayton , Ohio is an Essence best-selling author, playwright, and motivational speaker. Her stage productions include: Get You Some Business, Don’t Turn Your Back on God, and Can’t You Hear Them Crying and Abundant Rain. To date, Vanessa has written the Rain Series and the Storm Series. The books in the Rain Series are: Former Rain , Abundant Rain, and Latter Rain. The books in the Storm Series are: Rain Storm and Through The Storm. These books have received rave reviews, winning Best Christian Fiction Awards and topping numerous Bestseller’s lists.
FORSAKEN is Vanessa’s newest book, due out in October 2009. Forsaken is the story of a fallen pastor’s journey back to God. Vanessa believes that each of her books will touch readers across the country in a special way. It is, after all her God-given destiny to write novels that bring deliverance to God’s people.
Who are your favorite authors?
Too many to name all of them.
What books are on your summer reading list?
As soon as I finish writing my new book, I am going to read: The Good Stuff by Michelle Stimpson, The Last Woman Standing by Tia McCollors, The Lyons Den by Kendra Norman Bellamy, Long Journey Home by Sharlene MacLaren and Brink of Death by Brandilyn Collins.

Hello Yasmin and APOOO…thanks so much for your support! You’re a great addition to the literary community and I know I’m not the only one that thinks so! Happy Reading!

All of these books look wonderful. I can’t wait to read them. I found a touching novel you all might enjoy called His Edge. It’s about a WWII test pilot and his struggles through life, with just a hint of romance.
