Welcome to another edition of APOOO Teaser Tuesdays!
TEASER TUESDAYS asks you to:
Grab your current read. Let the book fall open to a random page. Share with us two-three sentences from anywhere on the page. Tell us the page number. You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given! Please avoid spoilers!
Writers, Julian believed, came in all types, but one way or another they were control freaks, and superstition was nothing if not an attempt to exert control. Besides, he thought a good novel resisted summary; it had to speak for itself. Still, he felt he owed Carter an answer, for Carter was a friend and he’d written fiction, too.
Matrimony by Joshua Henkin, page 142
I won this book as a prize in a contest last week and I received it yesterday. Because I enjoy reading stories about married life…this book quickly moved up to the top of my list…and kicked another one to the curb…hehe. Anywho, I’m on page 100 something and really enjoying what I’m reading. So far, my rating is parked at a 4 (out of 5 stars). The premise of the story is two college sweethearts, who marry in haste after a tragedy and life ever after…or NOT. Because, of course, anything is bond to happen. I have a hunch that something near and dear to my heart will happen…wonder if I will be right…I’m going to keep reading to find out…and I’ll let you know.

On the way home my conscience started talking to me, and I started to get nervous. What I was doing wasn’t right. Dre’ was married, and I knew I shouldn’t take the situation any further. I was instantly attracted to Dre’ from looks alone, but today I had the opportunity to get inside of his head, and I was attracted to that side of him also. Judging from the pace, and intensity of my attraction, I knew I was headed for trouble. I tried to convince myself to call it off, but I was curious, I wanted to see how far Dre’ was willing to go. Before i knew it, I was applying pressure to the gas, and speeding home. I turned into the entrance of Timber Gates, and glanced toward the vacant lot a couple of streets over where Dre’ usually parked. I spotted his truck, and then I pulled in front of my building.

But she also knew it would have been unseemly to confess to Jefferson’s daughters that she didn’t attend church on any kind of regular basis. Michaela knew in her heart it was not because of lack of belief, but of the huge contradictions between what she was taught and what she saw and experienced. But church was still the place where she felt assured that letting go of doubts and fears would be received with love and understanding.

They had already agreed to this. The day Jesse told Vanessa he was reconciling with Dionne, they agreed that their affair had not been a merging of soul mates. Rather, it had been a pleasant indulgence in one of those “what-if” affairs, a simple case of two mutually attracted consenting adults pausing to experience each other.
