Addicted to Love

Ashes, Ashes, They All Fall Down by Anita Ballard-Jones  gives the reader a breathtaking look at addictions, love and self-esteem issues.  Josey and Sabur have a love story like no other; looking from the outside in, it appears Josey has it going on.  With a wealthy husband, beautiful home and lovely children what could possibly be wrong with this picture? Joseys’ story is riveting, suspenseful and downright scary at times.  Joseys’ background shows us a scared child who was able to endure the most unbelievable things, such as murder, child abuse and having to raise her siblings because of her parents’ clear obsession with drugs.

Faced with her own addiction and pregnant for the third time, Josey has to escape the heavy grip Sabur has on her.  Will she be able to stay clean for the sake of her unborn child or will her love for Sabur keep her drugged? Sadie is Sabur’s mom and Josey’s savior and comes to the rescue time and time again.  Choosing between the love of her son and the safety of her grandchildren Sadie proves to be just what the doctor ordered.

Can Josey keep her head up and remain clean and reunite with her other children or will she forever remain a pawn in Sabur’s life?  This story is moving and sad and will have you crying, laughing and screaming all at the same time.  This is the first time I have read anything by Ms. Ballard-Jones and I loved every page and look forward to picking up her previous novels.  Great work.
