Ask Somebody, by Kamah-Alicia Scott, is a twisted tale of deceit that will have you shaking your head throughout the read. Zoe Simone Masequai had it all mapped out. As a curvy size eight with a nice face and an honor student upon admission to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Simone had it going on and would no doubt be `that’ girl on campus. With a cluster of female friends in the midst of her rise to popularity and an ever-growing list of men lusting for her, some of whom were her friend’s boyfriends, how would Simone be able to maintain such an intricate web without becoming tangled in it herself?
Ask Somebody has a solid plot, but it needs editing and the transitions between scenes needs a bit of tweaking. It was a quick read and I was genuinely concerned about the main character. Relationships between the characters at times were confusing, but I was able to get through it because of my intrigue with Simone’s issues. Ask Somebody would be an entertaining read if you are looking for drama and are not a stickler when it comes to editing.
