The Baker’s Dozen by S.D. Denny is a wonderful look into a woman’s heart and the heart of a family. Breanna Baker has given up much of her faith in good things happening. Her father’s death, when she was a young girl, changed her perspective and the perspective of her entire family, including her 11 siblings. To a certain extent, Bree has moved on, she even has a new man, Charles, who she loves. However much she loves him, she is not completely ready to trust him or his love or their future. What will it take to make Bree see things clearly? Maybe she will need to return to her hometown.

A couple of events, a death and a secret send Bree back home, and before she can deal with what she must do to have a secure future, she will have to deal with issues from her past. Ms. Denny has done a good job of bringing the Bakers to life and revealing the stuff that block so many people from their blessings; things like lies and distrust. The Baker’s Dozen is a good book that will entertain readers but will also make them think and remember their own lives. I recommend this novel to all readers.
