Barack Obama: APOOO is in Da House!

APOOO Family and Friends, how are you feeling this last Friday in August, this Friday before a long weekend, this Friday after the DNC, this Friday after Barack Obama’s HOMERUN speech last night. Last night I spent 45 minutes with Barack Obama, as did many of you. This man reaffirmed everything that I felt 18 months ago when I decided to step out on faith and support him.  Last night, I was completely engaged, and further encouraged, inspired and motivated as I watched him reinforce what I needed to hear, as well as, take on his opponents by addressing each of his perceived weaknesses. He made me proud to be on his team, especially when he reminded us that it has NEVER been about him, but always about US/YOU.  We are our brother’s keeper; we are our sister’s keeper.  And folks I am ready for a change, along with some fresh new ideas.  Four more of the McSame ain’t good enough!  No Way, No How, No McCain!

I don’t know about you, but I can proudly say that I felt good about being an American last night.  I felt that even in America, a bi-racial kid (who considers himself black as do many of you), from a single-parent household, with modest means, limited connections in Washington, could become the next President of the United States.  So does my uncle who is a Black Republican, so does Dwight Eisenhower’s great-granddaughter, who was at the DNC, even though she is a Republican for Obama (yep there are some Rethuglicans for Obama) and, I will let you in on a little unknown secret–even my my grandfather, who was born in 1876, who although he fought for Civil Rights, was a staunch Republican until the day he died.  I bet he would also feel the same way if he were alive today.  I believe Obama would have persuaded my grandfather to change his mind last night.  And, if Obama could not I believe I could, because I was ‘daddy’s’ favorite grandchild…hehe.  (Only because I was the first grandchild to live near he and my grandmother, to be raised by them and later adopted by them, so of course, I was his favorite, although he never showed it openly, because he did not want to hurt the feelings of any of his grandkids, but I KNOW I was his favorite…hehe…and I digress.)

It is overcast, gray, dreary, rainy and the weather just sucks in Central PA today, but I feel like I am floating on Cloud 9; I am jubilant, bubbly and in a good mood…and I ain’t even letting the RethuglicanRepublican pundits steal my joy today.  I am going to bask in the afterglow because I know this moment is fleeing and we still have much work to do, before we can truly  CELEBRATE AND PARTY LIKE IT’S NO LONGER 1999.  Of course, I am not going to let Friday pass without a music video or two…hehe.  Actually, today I am going to give you TWO.  First, we are going to kick it off with Jennifer Hudson.  Did any of you all catch her live at the DNC?  I missed her because I had to go and pick up my daughter from cheer leading practice…but baby gurl got skills and she sounded good!  What say you?

For those who could not stay awake or who had the misfortune to miss Obama’s speech, you can view it below.

In November, I hope ObamaI can sing with Stevie Wonder–Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I’M YOURS.  What about you?
