In the final book of her Prescott series, Can’t Say No, Bette Ford tells the story of Vanessa Grant and Ralph Prescott. Ralph is an ex-basketball star and every woman’s dream. He does not think there is a woman worthy enough to settle down with. Vanessa is young, single, and very family-oriented. At the age of 20, Vanessa was granted guardianship of her twin brother and sister and teen-aged sister. Putting her dreams on hold, Vanessa did not have time for romance. She witnessed what love had done to her mother and she was determined not to make the same mistakes. Yet, there was something about Ralph that drew him to her and she decided to proposition him. Little did they know that her decision would affect them in ways that they could not explain.
Ford’s novel was very similar to the other books in this series. The characters were fun and loving and each page made you turn the page to see what would happen next. There were a few sections that moved slowly but the final results were enjoyable. Fans of Ford will enjoy reading this novel.
