Drama

BIG GIRLS DO CRY by Carl Weber is the story of two sisters: Isis and Egypt. Isis and Egypt are the original members of the Big Girls Book Club (BGBC), in Carl Weber’s previous novel SOMETHING ON THE SIDE. Isis and Egypt have moved from New York and are now residing in Richmond, Virginia and have started a new chapter of BGBC.

Egypt is happily married to Rashad and with Rashad’s newly found success they are living in the lap of luxury. Egypt and Rashad want to start a family more than anything but unfortunately Egypt finds out that she is unable to have children. The dilemma is–do they adopt or do they find a surrogate?

Unbeknownst to Egypt, Isis still has unresolved feelings for her ex-boyfriend of 10 years. Rashad used to be her man before he married her sister. Living in the same house with him is making her want him even more and she is determined to get him back no matter how she has to do it. When an opportunity of a lifetime presents itself to Isis, she just knows she is going to win Rashad’s heart back. Or so she thinks.

Lorraine, Egypt’s boss and one of the newest members of BGBC, has drama of her own. She is unhappily married and her best friend, Jerome, does not want them to stay married. He just wants Lorraine to be happy. So, when an old admirer from Lorrraine’s past shows up, she will have to decide if she wants to step out on her marriage or will she try to make her marriage work?

BIG GIRLS DO CRY by Carl Weber was an excellent read. Although it has characters from Mr. Weber’s last book, BIG GIRLS DO CRY, it is a story by itself. So you do not need to read SOMETHING ON THE SIDE first. BIG GIRLS DO CRY is filled with drama and suspense. Just when you think you know how this story is going to turn out it leaves you with a twist. This book reminded me of Mr. Weber’s earlier books; I absolutely loved it. So those of you that are Carl Weber fans, you are sure to love this one as well. Highly recommended!
