Kansas City Homicide Detective, Joe Johnson knew the moment he answered the telephone that he was not going to like it. Aunt Ida was about to celebrate her 64th birthday and she had only one request. She wanted Joe to find out who killed her late husband, Clyde. But there is one problem – Clyde was killed 40 years ago. Vincent Alexandria’s Black Secret describes Joe’s journey.

From the opening sentence to the very last line, I was captured by Alexandria’s storytelling. Joe travels to Louisiana with two friends, Pretty Kevin and MoMo, to find his uncle killer. I laughed out loud and eagerly turned each page to see how the story would end. The only disappointing feature was it was a short story and I wanted to read more. I recommend this story to fans of crime fiction.

  1. I had the pleasure to read Black Secrets and once again Vincent Alexandria did an excellent job. Detective Joe was doing his job as only he can do. I like how Vincent allowed the ‘ole south’ to be a part of the story line since it has not changed in some places. Priscilla, you are so right about reading this book. Detective Joe, Detective Vernon, and Pretty Kevin kept something going all the time and you couldn’t help but laugh (sometimes even when it was serious). But even with all of their antics, they are always serious about what they need to do. Well worth the read.
