Growing up, I was told that family should stick together and I do believe in what my grandmother told me, but in Bloodlines, by Dasaya Cates, family members have a way of changing things. In this sassy novel, the author introduces readers to the Lang family of Atlanta, Georgia’s elite social network, with all of their issues and not many solutions. Lena Lang is the matriarch of the family and has more secrets than anyone could imagine. She is put to the test when her skeletons start coming out of the closet. How far will Lena go to keep her family together?

Reynolds Lang is the favorite child and most dependable, but looks can be deceiving, because his world is far from perfect. Reynolds’ lovely wife, Blair, is having trouble conceiving, which is causing problems in their marriage. She has become obsessed with having her husband’s child and will do whatever it takes to make it happen. When his grandfather passes away and leaves stipulations on his heritance, Reynolds does not know what to do. The pressure from his family and from his wife will soon cause him to break. Reynolds way of coping with the stresses of life and marriage lands him in an unusual situation.

Bloodlines is an interesting story of family, marriage, and secrets. This book will draw readers into the tangled web of the Lang family’s world of business and unusual practices. It is an entertaining book that readers will not want to put down. I recommend this book to others.
