PWOC members came up with the name, at the first meeting. as the looked around the room and saw positive women of various shades, who enjoyed reading. There were ladies who spoke in public, could pray, cook, create baskets, and work in a number of professional fields. Thus the name Prominent Women Of Color (P.W.O.C.).
