]]> 2010 African American Book Releases

New releases that I’ve read this year from my prior list that I posted here.  Books highlighted in bold are those that I would recommend to others.  My all-time favorite book so far this year is The Island Beneath the Sea by Isabelle Allende.  I highly recommend this book to historical fiction fans.

Be Careful What You Pray For by Kimberla Lawson Roby (recommend to Roby fans of the Rev. Black series)

Big Girls Do Cry by Carl Weber (if you like entertainment purpose only reads)

Victorie:  My Mother’s House by Maryse Condi (reading next…based upon word of mouth I think I will enjoy this one)

Searching for Tina Turner by Jacqueline Luckett (started reading it but never finished it…it wasn’t holding my interest at the time and there were too many other books in the pile calling my name…lol)

Wench by Dolen Perkins-Valdez (recommend to historical fiction fans)

The Girl Who Fell from the Sky by Heidi W. Durrow (story about a troubled, disturbed biracial young girl…good coming of age story)

Perfect Peace by Daniel O. Black (Highly recommend…this book is my second favorite read for 2010…can’t say enough about this author as I’ve never met a book by him that I didn’t enjoy immensely)

Take Your Pleasure Where You Find It by JD Mason (APOOO June BOM I will read this month)

What Mother Never Told Me by Donna Hill (If you liked Rhythms you will enjoy this sequel)

Trouble Down the Road by Bettye Griffin (Another sequel which was a good entertainment purposes only read…now be warned most of these characters will work your last nerve!!!!)

Glorious by Bernice McFadden

Island Beneath the Sea by Isabel Allende–My #1 FAVORITE READ FOR 2010!!!!!!!!!

Holy Rollers by Reshonda Tate Billingsley (Fans of Billingsley will enjoy this read)

JennieMae and James a Memoir in Black and White by Brooke Newman (If you enjoy memoirs then I definitely recommend this one)

Red Hats by Damon Wayans (Better than expected…cute, delightful, quick read)

Un-Nappily in Love by Trisha Thomas (okay I’m cheating…haven’t read this one yet but it’s on the list because I plan to read it before the end of June)
