In Wilma Brockington’s CINNAMON GIRL BLUES, Beverly, Sasha and Regina journey through life with trials and tribulations. But their friendship is the key to helping them make it. They met when they were all previously employed for the same company. Now they are off doing their own thing but still keep the tight bond they created when they worked together. And boy, do they need the support.
Beverly’s abusive marriage ends with a traumatic event. She tries to take that horror and turn it into her dream. All appears to be going well, until she finds out that she has been betrayed and deceived. Sasha has just recently broken up with her boyfriend. Or shall I say, he broke up with her. Feeling alone and not knowing what to do, she turns to the Internet to find love. Sasha meets the worst of the worse. She finally finds someone that she thinks will be a good fit and the drama comes in full force. Some of the choices she made at her previous company come back to bite her in the butt. Regina appears to have it all. She has a wonderful husband and twins. Both Beverly and Sasha wish they had her life. But they do not know the stress she is under. Her husband does not want her working anymore. But Regina cannot seem to give up the corporate life. That is, until tragedy strikes.
Brockington gives a good mix of drama, suspense, and romance. The women share a great bond that aids them through the trying times in their lives. I love how she makes her characters so real, with real flaws. I enjoyed the story and recommend it for those that love a little suspense.
