Before the week is over, I hope to accomplish two things:
- Set up 12 days of books giving contest.
- Finalize my list (African American titles only) of the Top 10 books I read this decade.
The latter is going to be a little challenging because much to my surprise I actually read a lot of books during the decade that I really, really liked. So far the following books are on the long list:

By the end of this week, I hope to narrow this list down to 10 and announce the finalist on Friday (1/1/2010). While you’re at it, share some of the titles that made your list.
Okay now I’m off to work on the book giveaway. Tons of books to give away and you could be the lucky winner of up to 12 books!

So sad that we won’t see anything else by BeBe Moore Campbell. She is/was my very favorite author.
@ Rhonda I know…she’s sorely missed.
Wow – To list 10 is an arduous task for a decade; too many worthy ones will be left out…maybe have a top 10 by traditional and non-traditional categories (auto-/biographies, Chick Lit, Male Authors, Debuts, Multi/Cross Cultural, One-Hit Wonders, etc.)
A Day Late and a Dollar Short by Terri McMillian
You have some great ones..I agree with…
72 Hour Hold by Bebe Moore Campbell
The Living Blood by Tananarive Due
Alot of the others are in my TBR pile.
@ Lashonda get to reading sis.
I only started keeping track about three years ago so I couldn’t do a list like this. But if I did a “Best of” over that time, I’d have to include Abraham’s Well by Sharon Ewell Foster, My Soul Cries Out by Sherri Lewis and probably What Doesn’t Kill You by Virginia DeBerry and Donna Grant.

A Love of my Own by E Lynn Harris
I have my reading mojo back so I am off to a running start.

Wow – deciding on top ten books in the decade is task in itself. I will forward to seeing what your final list looks like. I have not thought about what books I would list for the decade but I do know it would include – Half of a Yellow Sun.
I still haven’t been able to get my list together! LOL!!!!!!!
Golly gee, I feel so behind. I haven’t done nearly as much reading as I’d like so I don’t have ten. But I was really impressed with and enjoyed: Eric Jerome Dickey’s The Other Woman, All Things Hidden – Judy Candis, Shame On It All – Zane, and Somebody’s Sinning In My Bed – Pat G’Orge-Walker. And yes, I too will miss the literary genius of BeBe Moore Campbell. I strive to read moor in 2010.
