I love mysteries. I usually take my time with books in this particular genre, because I have to take in each and every detail in order to figure out who did it before it is revealed. Reading Death at the Double Inkwell by Shonell Bacon kept me guessing for more than half the book. I did not partially figure it out until I was on page 180; no the reveal was not on that page. Even after my mind had put two and two together, I still did not have it all in place. I said partially. Boy did I get a surprise, once the pieces were put together. I could never have guessed the reason behind the killing.

Mystery novel writers and twin sisters, Jovan Parham-Anderson and Cheyenne Parham, are in the midst of writing their next best-selling novel when tragedy strikes in their real life. Someone killed Cordell, Jovan’s husband. Everyone at Anderson Technologies claims Cordell was a decent man with no enemies. Jovan had reasons to think otherwise, making all the clues point back to her. Did Jovan kill her loving husband? Or did someone else kill him out of a shared hatred?

Jovan and Cheyenne are the perfect opposites of each other. They had a sisterly bond that did not falter not once. One could have easily have killed for the other. I loved the contrasting of each character’s personality to the others. The pacing was there as was the anticipation of what was to come next. If you are a reader who indulges in mysteries, this would be a perfect book for you.
