Most Favorite: The Some Day List by Stacy Hawkins Adams; it was a refreshing, motivating and positive read after a plethora of reads that were a little too serious (and negative). Also, timely for the New Year. Everyone should have a Some Day List filled with things that they would like to accomplish before they leave this earth. I think this one probably also caught and held my attention because of what I was going through in December.
Least Favorite: Midnight by Sister Souljah
Fast Forward/January Reads:
Rush Home Road by Lori Larsen
Ex-Terminator by Suzetta Perkins
Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz
The Red Tent by Anita Diamant
Someone Knows My Name by Lawrence Hill
Schae’s Story by Angelia Menchan
Where There’s Smoke by Terra Little
The Little Black Girl Next Door by Jennifer B.
Where the Line Bleeds by Jesmyn Ward
The Bishop’s Daughter by Tiffany Warren
Houston We Have a Problem by Gwendolyn Zepetta
The Island of Eternal Love

Wow..Yasmin.. You read a lot in December. I did not make my goal of 120 books for 2008. I only read 100 so I’ll set the same goal for 2009. I can’t say which was my favorite because there were several but thanks to the reivew team I was introduced to a lot of new authors. I can’t wait to see what this year has in store.
Again, Thanks for all that you do…
Hey Priscilla…something to be said for being on vacation for two weeks…it was WONDERFUL and despite what was going on with family and friends…I was still able to get a lot of reading done…it truly helped me to escape reality and was a wonderful way to do it…I mean there are worst vices right…lol.
Your December looks like what I wanted to do. I am hoping to be more focused for 2009. I find it a shame to own over 125 books I have not read….Ok…that did sound stern right?! I am trying to be stern with myself….LOL

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did…I rated it 4.5 stars.
Hmmm 125 books in the TRP…been there done that…hehe…but I still have about 70 books in the pile which is why I’m cutting back on what I buy or request in 2009…I don’t like having to do list looming ova my head…lol. So, until I eliminate my pile I’m trying to read at least 10-15 books a month…wish me luck,.
I’m also reading The Red Tent. I will be reading Oscar Wao in February for my book club. I added the Someday List to my wish list.
Dera´s last blog post..First Quarter 2009 Reading Challenge
Hey Dera I’m going to push this one back:
Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz
Now when will you be reading the Red Tent.
The SomeDay List…I was looking for a feel good read and this book was it for me…my rating is based a lot on ‘how the book made me feel’ given what I was dealing with in December…now that said it’s still a good book and was a great read FOR ME…for others I say adjust your expectations esp. if you’re not a CFiction fan (per se).
Hey Yas great list of books. I’m not sure what I will be reading for January. But right now I’m reading Eat, Drink, and Be From Mississippi by Nanci Kincaid and Where the Line Bleeds by Jesmyn Ward.
I do plan on reading The Some Day List. I have a list of books to go purchase.
Jennifer C.´s last blog post..Our Choices
Several of us are reading The Red Tent. I was looking to see where I am in another week or so and see what the others are doing. We will get it coordinated so that we are reading together as much as possible.

Thanks Dera. Hmmm now I need to find my copy (if I can’t I need to check and see if the library has it…I’m on a diet against buying new books that are not 2009 releases…I’m on a budget this year…lol.)
I am going to try to be right there with you Yas with at least 10 books a month. Doing review books, especially when some of them are not great books does slow my reading down, but I am trying to work around this.
