In this street-lit fiction, Fast Friends Faster Enemies by Thomas Clopton, readers are introduced to a world of drugs, money, sex, and mayhem. Damon Black is a cocaine dealer from around the way. He understands the game and all the trials and tribulations that it brings, but Damon is in for a surprise when he meets a new possible running mate. Daneelo Cruz is also in the drug game and looking into strategies to enhance his business. Daneelo has a street mentality but also believes in providing security for his family. He is leery about taking on a partner until he meets Damon who is just as hungry for the game. Damon and Daneelo begin a partnership that will change both their lives.
Damon meets Kerrin, a woman he wants to settle down with. Kerrin has much love for Damon and wants to become his wife, but she has something to tell him that may change their relationship. Will she tell him or let her secret take its course?
Damon and Daneelo, will find out the hard way that in business you cannot have too many chiefs and not enough Indians. They will also find out that in the drug game it is hard to have a family because they become a distraction. When push comes to shove, who will survive?
Fast Friends Faster Enemies is street-lit fiction with a little twist. What starts out as a venture and partnership turns into something beyond the reader’s imagination. I enjoyed the author’s detail of suspense and action within the story. It has all the elements of the drug game and portrays the true meaning of keeping your friends close and your enemies closer. I was surprised by how the book ended, so I am assuming that a sequel may be in the works. I recommend this book to true street-lit lovers.
