I first heard of her after seeing River, Cross my Heart with the other Oprah selections on display @ Barnes & Noble and decided to read it just because...I liked it and passed it on to my best friend.

I think I would ask her what motivates her to keep writing and how difficult it was to get published (or not)

I've been eyeing this novel in the Black Expressions catalog.
I've never read this author before.
I love historical fiction.

I would ask her about writing this novel

How many of you had heard of Breena Clarke before today? No

Have you read any books by Breena Clarke? No

Her first book, River, Cross My Heart, was Oprah Book Club Selection. If you read it, did it live up to the hype for you and did you recommend it to others?

If you could have dinner with Clarke, what questions would you ask her? I would wonder what was it about the error that caused her to write about it.

How many of you had heard of Breena Clarke before today? I did not, and I can't believe I didn't, given that she was an Oprah selectee!

Have you read any books by Breena Clarke? No

If you could have dinner with Clarke, what questions would you ask her? I'd ask, did you "lobby" to get picked by Oprah? What did it do to your sales? Do you think historical fiction should be read along with non-fiction of the same period?

I did not live up to the hype for me. It's been awhile, but I remember it being slow and not very interesting.

If you could have dinner with Clarke, what questions would you ask her
I would ask her, Given what it seems like the publishers want or expect from AfAm authors, would you write a book of erotica or street/urban fiction content?

I'd love to be entered for your draw Yasmin. As you know I love historical fiction and this one sounds like such a good one. Thanks.
