Dera, you reminded me about the folk who come and stand too close during business transactions. I hate that. I know that they may mean no harm but it makes me think they are up to no good. I also hate to stand behind folk at the ATM while they make ten dang transactions. I always want to yell to them to go to the dang bank if they have that much to do. The ATM is for quick transactions, just get the money and go.

All you list above and more are my pet peeves. Rude drivers are high on my list. For instance, four-way stop where people do not yield to the next driver but try to come behind the driver in front of them. Rude! People who when you are the first one to get in your car in a parking lot, they come and jump in the card and start up real fast and try to leave first. Rude! People who do not hold doors for the person behind them. Rude! People who are standing in line behind you all up on you breathing on you. Rude! Even worse, people when you are standing at the counter come and stand next to you when the sign clearly says for them to stand behind the rope and give person privacy. Rude! People that ignore the signs that say no cell phones while doing transactions. Rude!
It is hard to imagine that these people grew up without any home training. I cannot abide rude people.

You are not a relic. I don't understand it either. It's just insane and so sad. No decency. No consideration. No class. No anything. I hate all the above you listed and I'll add three more:

1. Walking on the grass.
2. Blowing the horn outside someone's house instead of getting out of the car and knocking on the door or even waiting to see if they're looking out for you. GHETTO!
3. Talking on the cell phone at the register or counter when you're transacting business. What conversation is anyone having that they can't call back after they finish their transaction. It's disgusting.

I'm turning into my mother and I'm proud of it.

Your list of pet peeves are mine also. You are not a relic. When it comes to giving up seats on public transportation NY isn't bad. Men still do it here. When my gf was pregnant and we got on the train several men would get up and we all got seats LOL I feel your frustation

Raven, I agree with you on every point. Of course, this kind of thing happens everywhere, but it really stood out to me during the years I lived in the Cleveland area. The door thing really burned me up and it wasn't even about chivalry, just common decency. I'll hold the door open for anyone who is only a couple paces behind me--be they man, woman, a senior citizen or a child. But the the brothers in C-town would routinely let a door slam behind them (and in your face) or break into a sprint in order to beat you to a spot in line. I was always tempted to say, "Sheesh, were you raised by wolves or what?"

Sadly, adults cursing and talking about sexually explicit subjects in front of little ones, is something I've seen everywhere. The South may even have a jump on other sectors when it comes to this. (LOL) Interestingly enough, the folks who engage in this sort of uncouth behavior always seem to want others to hear. No, not a bit of shame in their game--the more vulgar the conversation, the louder they are.
