Gabrielle Mercedes’s aunt and uncle took her in after the death of her mother and incarceration of her father, but she was never shown the love she needed to thrive.  However, her angel in the person of Miss Esther took note of her natural ability to dance, and convinced her aunt to let Gabrielle do chores at her house.  There her love for dance flourished under the tutelage of Miss Esther until her angel went away after a serious accident.  Gabrielle Mercedes was forced to leave home once she turned 18, of which she did not have a problem with, not ever looking back from whence she came.

Forced into the street with no place to go, and unsure of what she would do, Gabrielle was rescued by a man who would prove to be a friend to treasure for years.  The job he offered her was not one to be proud of, but it kept money in her pockets and a roof over her head.  That is, until an encounter with a young woman she would normally ignore was instrumental in changing Gabrielle’s life forever.

Because of the strong pull on her heart strings, Gabrielle found herself seeking a place to worship, to hear God’s Word and live for Him.  God blessed her to find refuge, redemption and a renewed chance to realize her girlhood dream to become a dancer at the Christ through Followers of Jesus Faith Worship Center pastored by Pastor Landris.

Gabrielle’s newfound love and commitment to Christ helped her to make life-changing decisions that would put her in the position to lose material gain, testing her foundation to the limits.  Will she continue to stand on the Word of God and enjoy the blessings of the Lord in spite of her losses?  Or will she take the easy way out and miss out on all God has for her and others through the ministry God has blessed her with?

I enjoyed Goodness and Mercy, a true testimony to the fact that if you are faithful over a few things, God will make you ruler over many things.  I recommend this book to readers who are having trouble standing in the face of adversity, needing God’s assurance that He will never forsake you.
