1111228_sunset_and_seaAs a counselor, I’m always telling folks to find reasons to be grateful- that gratitude will improve their attitude. What you focus on expands.  All that counselor stuff.

On occasion, I have to use the same speech on myself.  Welcome to that week.

So here is my mid-life gratitude list this week:

  •  My days as a full-time parent are numbered.
  • Support bras are much sexier than the ones my mother used to wear.  And they have matching panties.
  • Gel inserts for my hooker pumps.  Yay.
  • Yoga pants are the new sweatpants.  With the right top and running shoes, you always look like you going to, or coming from the gym.  Never mind you haven’t been to the gym in weeks.
  • Glasses have become a fashion statement (in addition to being a necessity).
  • Can you say Spanx, people?! Does wonders for smoothing out the lumps and bumps.
  • Miralax.  Need I say more?
  • Facebook- ’cause nothing beats reconnecting with old friends.
  • Chocolate covered almonds and a coke when I’m pmsing.  (Still got a few years to be grateful for this one.)
  • Knowing that “this too shall pass”.

What’s on your gratitude list this week APOOO?

  1. I’m not sure my list will be as elaborate as yours but I will give it a try.

-My husband still loves me even though I have gained some pounds over the 15years we have been together. (I love myself too.)

-I can still move around without a cane or wheelchair. (The diagnosis that I’ve gotten from doctors over the years are scary and crazy.)

-I still have most of my teeth; enough to have a pretty smile.

-I still have an imagination. And I can remember who I am.

The Internet- I have made a connection with some incredible people. It’s hard to remember life before this.

Microwave- I love being able to do it quick, fast and in a hurry.

Braids- not having to make beauty shop appointments and spend all of your Saturday waiting and on top of that trying to sleep cute to maintain a hairdo.

Wristlets- sometimes it’s not a purse day and I love the freedom of having what I want at my disposal.

Text Messaging- when a phone call is out of the question a text is sure to say it all.

My health – although I am not as healthy as I could be, I have no major complaints.

  5. My gratitude falls under these two all-encompassing, all purpose works in any situation quotes (lol)

“My soul looks back in wonder how I got over.”

“There will be an answer, let it be.”

  6. Hmmm I’ve got to go and check out the yoga pants; thanks for the tip.

I’m STILL grateful that the lump was benign.

  7. Great lists ladies. I’m thankful just to be here for another day.

    What is Miralax? :)

  8. Miralax…a LAXATIVE…hehe.

  9. @Yas- Girl, yoga pants are a lifesaver for me. I love them almost as much as I love jeans. Add a cute casual top and casual shoes, and you are set. You never look slouchy, and you are ALWAYS comfortable.

And thanks for informing Uranie about Miralax. LOL.
