Fall is leather: boots, jackets, handbags, & belts, warm fires in the chimnea on the back porch, planting lovely flowers because the summer flowers are too high-maintenance, me & my laptop enjoying working outside in the nice weather, and vacations to warmer climates.

September 2, my birthday, is the beginning of my new year. Every year, without fail, I add some knowledge & activity to my arsenal of existing knowledge. Last year it was the joy of planting flowers and decorating my back porch. I get such peace planting and watching the flowers. It's immeasurable. This year it is blogging (thanks Djuanna for the new addiction) and writing articles. Who knew people cared about my opinion, views, and expertise on some subjects.

So, to me, Fall always means new beginnings! By Christmas, I've perfected what ever new activity I started in the Fall. Now the Winter is when I turn into a hermit.

Hi Djuanna: Happy New Year............. Fall is the time of year that I enjoy shopping the most...........sweaters, boots, oversize purses to hide my stash of hot chocolate and teas and international coffees and flavored creamers that I lug to the office everyday during the cool weather season. Also, both of my children and I celebrate birthdays during October and November,so that's always fun. Also, clear, cool nights watching the sky with my son who has become obsessed with his telescope and the moon, and my garage is cool enough for me to work on my paintings, the artist is me is finally emerging on a more consistant basis.....................and then of course there's the FAIR..............."fair" food, people watching, watching your kids have the time of their lives on the kiddie rides..........good times.........good times.

Hey Diva D...gosh I can't believe it's already been a year! Gosh how time flies. Hmmm what does the fall mean to me? High school football baby! That's the rage in Central PA this time of year. Of course, I plan to make every game (except two unfortunately) this year because Paul's a senior...and this will be his last year playing HS football. He's one of four captain's this year and so far he's starting off well. His team won 62-23 today...they applied the mercy rule at the end of the second quarter. Lauren is cheering and she's only one of two freshmen on varsity! So I get to see both of them participate in Friday night football games. In addition to football, I look forward to cooler days, making smores, curling up with a cookbook and this year probably a few more college visits. I can't believe my baby (boy) is headed to college next year!

Happy New Year.

Like you - I always thing as this time of the year as the beginning of a new year. Started when I was in school and then had children in school. But I guess that old habits tie hard as my children are long out of school and living on their own.
But this time of year means planning for some travel - I do not take a vacation in the summer time because I prefer to go when everyone is back at work and not on vacation.
This will be the first year that I will be living someplace where fall may not be as cool as I am use to and probably will not be pulling out the sweaters until a couple of months from now (but you never know with this crazy weather)

Hey Jennifer- we don't get much in terms of leaves changing near the beach, but I do love it when the temps start changing. That's great about your locks- love that hair honey. You know I'm down with that. And it's really cool that you do the novel in a month thing. I really need to try that. sigh Enjoy all your upcoming birthdays!

Djuanna, I'm a hermit year round. I like indoors and books. But the fall means my husband, two out of my three kids (my first and last), and I will celebrate yet another year on this earth. I can also add another year of me growing my locks. I'm in love with my hair in case you didn't know. I also do a challenge writing a novel in a months time. I've only succeeded one year, but I still try every year. I look forward to seeing the leaves change color.
