In Heart of a Woman by GregAlan Williams, Jimi Stone is fed up with her husband’s, EG Stone, lying and cheating ways. Set from the 1950s to the 1970s, we get a glimpse of the rise of the infamous Motown record label. Jimi once had a dream of becoming a huge superstar. Once the movers and shakers realized she would be more valuable as a go-to girl, Jimi got stuck with the secrets of most of the Motown family. Never getting her career off the ground, her new dream became her husband’s dream. And that was to own a radio station.
Being the keeper of many secrets takes its toll on Jimi. She decides to use these secrets to get back the life she lost.

The story was hard to follow and at times I did not know what was going on. The inserts of real legends made the story more interesting. For example, the book opens with Teddy Pendergrass serenading EG’s mistress at the mall. Williams definitely creates interesting characters; I just think the story line could have had more of a pinnacle.
