Highlight in This Sluggish Economy, Price of Gas

Foreclosures loom.
Millions of dollars are spent each day on the war in Iraq.
Banks are going out of business.
Unemployment is up.
Wall Street is down.
Retail sales are depressed.
Folks are scared and worried about making day to day ends meet…more or less whether or not they can retire.
There is one small bright spot. Crude oil is under $70 and was down almost $5 versus yesterday. For the first time since June 2005, the price of gas here is less than $2!
I can’t prove it but I believe that the greediness of the oil companies attributed to the worst financial crisis of my lifetime.
But, for the meantime, I’m going to imagine that the glass is half full and keep hope alive.
Lower gas prices is a start. Being employed is a BIG HELP. I’m thankful that I have a job (and one that I like.)
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
Where do you live? What’s the price of gas in your neck of the woods?

The gas was $2.05 here yesterday. I haven’t been by a station today so it may have dropped again. Just think at the beginning of October it was almost $4 a gallon.

Shelia…yep yep…amazing how quickly the price has come down.
Gas down to $1.99 around here.
The people building their retirements that are wiped out. Those of us that have already retired, we are in the deep stuff.
It was not only the greed of the oil companies, but the greed of the executives of the big company. It began when they started reducing people to reach the 25% return on investment. No one of them thought of the fact the reductions would have a trickle down effect. Enron didn’t help either. Jobs going overseas. All of the before mentioned helped trickle down become a flood.
Now dues have to be paid, and guess who they are being paid by? The middle income class.
I was just saying the same thing. I was 7 miles to empty and at 2.09 a gallon, it cost me 30.00 to fill my car…now in October 30.00 was a 1/2 a tank of gas. amazing……and sad. It appears that it was just greed all along.
I’m thankful to be working and don’t take it for granted. They are firing people left and right at my employer, so I do what I’m supposed to do and I go home… no time to be a “maverick”, that’s for sure.
I am in Detroit and I saw gas today for $2.09 a gallon. Hope it’s lower in the morning when I get gas on my way to work.
Covington, GA it’s $2.09 and Grayson, GA $2.05. There is a place not too far from my house in Henry County that is under two dollars.

You guys have QT there??!!??
Ok, that’s like…WOW. QT is getting to be like McDonalds – everywhere. But it’s a good thing because you know what to expect in the wonderful world of QT. Just like a Big Mac is a Big Mac wherever you are, so, too, is QT’s coffee. (Thank God.)
Click my comment luv link below to see OUR QT prices. And they’re still coming down…
I keep hearing on NPR how Iran and Russia and Venezuela are in deep shit now because the oil prices are half what they were two months ago, and they’ve gone and based their national budgets on the $140/barrel price. I say, “Welcome to our world, buttheads. Sucks to be broke, don’t it?!”
Meanwhile, I can afford to drive out to my parents’ place on the weekend again. Love it.
