Thirteen Things about HOT FUN IN THE SUMMERTIME–Hanging Out at the Beach

Continuing APOOO’s Hot Fun in the Summertime Theme…today we’re going to the beach.  I absolutely love living around water and the soothing effect that water has on my spirit.  As many of you know, I grew in in Florida around lots of water (an ocean, a gulf, a bay and plenty of lakes), spent my formative young adult years in So. Cal (the Pacific Ocean was my backyard and I also attended USC …I couldn’t have asked for a  better school or college experience), my favorite place to vacation is on an island and when I retire I’m going South and would love to live on the ocean or at least own waterfront property…hey a girl can dream can’t she.  LOL.  Listed below are 13 things I’ve enjoyed (or been coerced into doing) over the years at the beach.

  1. Wading in the Water
  2. Building Sand Castles
  3. Collecting Sea Shells
  4. Swimming
  5. Boogey Boarding
  6. Fishing
  7. Crabbing
  8. Lover’s Lane
  9. Jet Skiing
  10. Snorkeling
  11. Hanging out on the Boardwalk
  12. Watching the Sunset
  13. Vacationing at Any Beach in Hawaii

  2. I love the beach. I used to live in Venice Beach. I loved the people watching, and just being there – every day regardless of weather. Some of my most amazing experiences were in the pouring rain, pounding surf and wind.

of course, sunbathing is pretty awesome too! :)

    Happy TT!

  3. OH Jennifer how can you be Jamaican and not like water…lol.

  4. I love going to the beach, and I’ve been lucky enough to visit a great many, round the world. I’ve done a lot of what you have in your list, and have always enjoyed it.

  5. I also love the water with a passion. We own a boat, waverunner and hopefully soon a home on a lake. Water gives me peace. Great TT. I loved it. Thanks for stopping by mine.

  6. Oops I forgot that we owned a pontoon boat and used to hangout on the Susquehanna once a week with good friends, eats and drinks every weekend.

  7. I can’t say I’ve been to the beach more than five times my whole life. I would say for me I like looking at the water. I don’t swim.

I do watch television, well used to. Check out my TT on sitcoms.

  8. Umm, I have a deep-rooted fear of the water. So, no beach for me. I do love waterfalls though (smile).

  9. I will go to the beach but its not my favorite. If I go to the beach I like to find shells.

  10. I love building sandcastles too :) I am a beach bum at heart. Happy TT and thanks for stopping by!

  11. Only my father did the water thing. I tried to learn back in ’04, but I wasn’t that successful. Maybe I will try again later in life, but for right now I’m content.

  12. Great list. So, at a guess you were coerced into… wading. ;)

  13. I can’t swim, so I just wade and collect shells and build sandcastles. My MIL and I like to go and just walk up and down the beach. I also take A LOT of pictures.

  14. I love to swim and I do not think you can ever be too old to do it or to learn to do it! It is great fun and healthy too. I also enjoy walking along the beach. It is always just such a beautiful site.

    Thanks for visiting my TT.

  16. From your list, I prefer #11 and #12. I like the water, but I’m not a big beach girl. I’m very pale and burn so easily. But I have friends in the Keys (Fay avoided them — thank God!) and love boat rides and cruises … where I can enjoy the water but stay covered up. (Thanks for visiting my TT)

  17. I love the beach. I’d love to try Hawaii sometime!

  18. I love the beach but no one has mentioned going to the amusement park. I remember piling in a car with my cousins and heading for Hershey Park. We would arrive just as the park opened and stay until it closed. Riding the rollar coaster and that thing that sucks you to the wall and then the floor drops… Priceless!!!

Of course now I can’t stomach most of those rides but boy .. I used to love it… :-)

  19. Swimming! Or dog paddling as I do. Once I get immersed I like to stay in for at least a half an hour. Where I grew up the ocean was frigid but a little further south it feels like bath water to me.

  21. I too love being by the water very much. We live on a small lake and just went on vacation over to Lake Michigan to spend time on the beach. Great TT and thanks for visiting mine.

  25. I was born and raised in California and was never so happy as when I moved away from the beach. Sorry, I only go to a beach when it’s unavoidable – i.e. my family wants to go or I rashly promise someone to do something they might want to do and they choose a beach. I’m very happy to live in the desert where it’s hot, dry and very little sand to be found.

Thanks for stopping by my TT!

  26. How I miss the beach having relocated to the desert from our Eastern shore! This is so funny actually since I had an online friend dream of me and her walking along the beach just yesterday.

To think of it My fam in Boston are at the beach right now!

    Glad you liked the music.

Wishing you and yours health, balance and joy.

  28. I used to could take the beach or leave it. I didn’t like all that sand and ashiness. But going to Cuba earlier this year, I fell in love with the beach. I could have stayed out there forever. Beautiful blue ocean in the province of Trinidad was the best.

  31. I love beaches and have my whole life.
A couple of thinks I enjoy is:
    - walking (running in my younger years) along the water’s edge – very good workout
    - a big hat, a good book, large bottle of water and reading until the sun goes down

  32. Those all sound great! Thanks for stopping by to comment on my TT post. I had to get some photos up. I went into labor on Twitter – ROFL – They wanted to see what happened.
