This Hurts by Shaun Mathis takes you into the mind of a young man, Syncere Washington. He is known for being a playboy and admits that he can not spend any length of time without a woman in his life. This poses a problem when he tries to recapture the love of his life, Kendra Lewis. They are not in the same state and Syncere is constantly seeing other women. Will their love be able to overcome the distance? Will Syncere stop lying?

He is so confused and really wants to commit to Kendra, but women are literally throwing themselves at him. Before Syncere would think, the lies would just flow. He was fighting with himself. He wanted to be with her, but felt like he just had to have someone…ANYONE at all times. Kendra was off to college, thinking her man was being faithful. When Kendra finds herself with an admirer, Syncere decides to do all he can to be with her. Does she like this admirer, too? Will the relationship they fought so hard to keep ultimately end?

The story was entertaining and full of deception and drama. The editing, however, was horrible. Some things were just not acceptable and it was very difficult to get past the glaring errors. It is very frustrating to read the story and engage yourself when you are thinking of grammar. Therefore, my rating reflects the manner in which it was written. I would be happy to revisit the book at a later time if the book is professionally edited and I certainly hope the author decides to do so because this book has a good story.
