This week, we have been getting personal with Wanda B. Campbell, author of Illusions during her book blog tour. We want to conclude this four-part interview with some fun questions.

MEET WANDA B. CAMPBELL (Part 4)

Would you say you are an extrovert or introvert?   Definately an introvert. Family and friends would probably disagree, but I am shy. As a rule, I listen much and speak little.

Which social networks do you enjoy the most?   My favorite social networks are Shoutlife and SistahFaith.

Do you like to cook? If so, what are your favorite dishes to cook.
I love to cook. Actually, I closed my catering business to focus on writing. My favorite dishes include, garlic crab, chicken lasagne, crab stuffed mushrooms, macaroni & cheese, baked turkey wings, fried cabbage with Italian sausage, and barbeque ribs.

What movie(s) have you watched recently that you would recommend.   Working full-time and writing, doesn’t allow for much leisure. Tyler Perry’s The Family That Preys is the last movie I watched. I recommend it to anyone needing a good laugh.

Do you like books being turned into a movie? If so, what is your favorite book-to-movie?
As a rule, I think when books are turned into movies some of the impact is lost. The Color Purple is my favorite book turned movie.

If Illusions was turned into a movie who would you cast to play your characters?   I think Jennifer Hudson would make a great Denise. Sassy Jennifer Lewis, in my opinion, is perfect for Lucinda’s role. A serious Anthony Anderson would bring Bryce to life. I can’t think of anyone that would do Benny justice.

Okay, a not-so-fun question. How important are reviews to you as a writer?

Reviews are a great tool to gain feedback from. The important thing is to remember that a review is the opinion of the reviewer. Every one has a different opinion, which they are entitled to.  A review is a great benchmark to judge rather a writer effectively conveyed a message.

  13. Hey Wanda,
I just received your book First Sunday In October today, as an early birthday present from my friend (Karen C) who works with your brother Chris. She called to let me know that she had sent me an autographed copy, which you personalized for me! Anyway, the book title rang a bell even though she hadn’t mentioned your name, and then when she mentioned your book Illusions, I screamed, “Are you talking about Wanda B. Campbell?” Needless to say, we were all excited that we knew who you were, and I’m looking forward to reading your book this weekend! Now, please let me know when you are doing any signings in Oakland so we can show up to support. Take care and I look forward to meeting you soon! Also, thanks for taking time to personalize my book!
