Great posts! Like you I watched all the inauguration coverage that whole weekend.
--On Inauguration night I was so tired I felt like I had went to all 10 Inaugural balls with them.
--You are so right, they need to back up off of Sasha and Malia- now you know we black momma's don't play when it comes to our kids- they really don't want "South Side" on them (cause you know we can take it there if we have too.)
-- Being from the "D" you know we are used to Sista ReeRee and her hats. But yes "church lady" was the first thing came to my mind also.
-I was sooo proud of my country that day.

I agree. I have been working with kids for nearly 11 years now and I have found the ones who are very introverted to be someone to keep and eye on. You never know in this day and age why a child is withdrawn. And you have to keep an eye on the kids who are just too grown for their own good, something could be wrong there as well. Now I know that there are kids who are naturally shy and quiet. I was one of them myself. I am talking about those who just don't seem to be acting age appropriately. I think Sasha is very aged appropriate.

Raven, I like kids who are out in the open with their ish...and that Sasha is! Sometimes when kids are too quite...I start to wonder...what's going through their minds...heads...lol. But...then again maybe it's just my kids that make me wonder. Lauren has some friends who are very quiet, but they like to whisper ish...WTF...and they tend to be sneaky. Annoys the heck out of me...told her if they can't open their mouth and talk when they come to our house...then they need to leave that whispering at home...because I'm not having it. If it's that personal, then you don't need to be talking about it around me. LOL>

Oh, I love me some Sasha! She is a total ham! She seems so loved and secure. I bet she's the one that keeps everyone laughing. I wish I had been that carefree as a kid. I agree, adults should take her for what she is, a child. And it is refreshing to see a kid acting like a kid.

Yeah, all the designers were American, I don't think either were born here though. I also think she should try an African American desginer. I am sure she will in the near future. She has an African American woman's body so it only makes sense.

The poem was nice but Maya's just blew me away. I agree she is a tough act to follow.

I 'm with you on the overload, although I also feel I can't get enough. Who knows when America will see anything like this, in all its many wonderful facets, again?

Okay, I knew about the guy...but I didn't know about the lady (think it's a lady) from Cuba. According to one of my co-workers, she's not a resident of the US...and not Cuban-American...but rather she's Cuban and lives in Cuba. He might be confused...maybe she once lived here. Hmmm did the statement say 'cease and desist'...they need to go attorney on them...otherwise this fooltrickery is going to continue. Hell, I might jump on board to make some money...just saying...

Hi, Yas: They were all "hyphenated Americans" which I think was deliberate her part as well. Toledo is a Cuban-American and the young man Taiwanese-American. I think that Tracy Reese has been mentioned as one of her favorites. I don't know if she submitted a design for Michelle.
Speaking of the Ty folks, Michelle's spokesperson issued a statement. And you know the J Crew site crashed from so much traffic the next day (lol)

Were they all American Designers...I thought her outfit for Inauguration Day was by a Cuba designer (who lived in Cuba)....and I would love for her to add a black designer to her list...one who understands how to dress a women with hips...and that's all I'm going to say on that. But, I will agree with Ev P, I would have liked to have seen Beyonce's dress on Michelle...:) Oh yeah...those Ty folks...I would have them all up in court asking for a cease and desist...the President is a public figure...but his kids are minor and they should be OFF LIMITS...and if they don't speak up, out and stop it now, we will see a lot more of that mess...and it won't always be flattering...not that the dolls are...they look like any generic doll to me.

Like you, I watched "cover to cover" inauguration coverage, beginning Saturday with the train trip and Sunday's concert. I think Obama's speech was perfect for the occasion - he made the points he needed to make to the nation and the world - I like the open hand/closed fist analogy and his direct address to the Muslim world. I LOVE the depiction of love and family that the Obamas display to the nation and the world, Worldwide reaction was wonderful to watch. I like the fact that Michelle Obama chose American designers and mixed high fashion with J. Crew. Think about the boost to the careers of those designers. I loved the little girls and their clothing was so appropriate - a more sedate color for the older and bright and exuberant for the little one. It suited their personalities. BTW, those Ty people and the dolls need to back up or at least stop fronting about the names for the dolls. And for the first time, I too feel like a real American.
