There was a lot of drama...but not as much depth as I would have liked. Alicia and her shenanigans just wore me out and it was hard to empathize with her...sigh. I'm not sure of what is left to tell about the Black Family....I'm not giving up on Lawson Roby but I'm definitely ready for some new characters. ;) Yvonne, Lawson Roby is an author I respect and admire, but like you, I was also disappointed with Best of Everything. Alicia, who was raised by a very grounded and sensible mother and step-father, seemingly developed a shopping addicition overnight. And I might add, very little imput from Tanya. There were hints here and there......the conversation about his and Tanya's marriage and her outburst at the end. But no defining reason. Roby could have easily used Alicia's rape, as a very solid reason, why Tanya just allowed her child to get away with murder all of a sudden. The same could be said with Alicia's affair, she had his business card in one chapter and the next she was in bed with him trying to figure out how she was going to wean herself from him. I think a break is needed from the black family. I would love to read a sequel from Changing Faces, or if another book on the Black family has to be written, I think that Tanya's life needs to be explored move.
