Where I Want To Be by Maryam Diaab is a story of love finding a woman when she least expected. After having her heart broken by many men, Alexis Hunter, decides that she is not getting into another relationship. That is until she takes a trip to New Orleans for her 25th birthday. She finds herself instantly attracted to Massai Taylor, a pro basketball player. She knows that she has to deny her feelings because if anyone will hurt her, it would be an athlete. Besides he already has a money hungry girlfriend who he is trying to be faithful to.
Massai and Alexis find it increasingly hard to hide their feelings for each other. Alexis lives in Detroit and Massai lives in New Orleans WITH his girlfriend. They are trying to find a way to work around Massai’s gold-digging, back-stabbing, I’ll-do-anything-for-money girlfriend, Eva, and Alexis’s I-once-was-married-sorry-I-lied-ex-boyfriend, Kevin. It cannot possibly work. Can it?
I enjoyed every second of reading this book. Diaab does a great job bringing you into the story so that you can relate. You either have been there yourself or know someone who has been fed up with love. A great love story that leaves you hoping love can find you too.
