Kreative Readers Book Club
TAKES FIVE WITH APOOO
Location: Chicagoland
When Founded: February 2008
Number of Members: 10
Name FIVE genres that your book club reads regularly.
Urban lit, romance, street lit, non-fiction, poetry
Name FIVE authors whose books your book club enjoys reading together.
Mary Monroe, Anne Rice, Carl Webber, Sista Souljah, Zane
List the FOUR BEST books that your book club has read this year.
The Coldest Winter Ever by Sistah Souljah
Every Woman Needs a Man by Lissa Woodson
So You Call Yourself a Man by Carl Weber
Sitting on the Front Pew by Parry Brown
List THREE books—the last book your club read, the current book your club is reading, the book your club plans to read next.
Menoch the Devil
Every Woman Needs a Wife by Lissa Woodson
We will pick the next book at the next meeting.
Offer TWO tips for a successful book club meeting.
Pick a date you know will be easy for your members, and always have food!!
If your group could have dinner with ONE author, who would be your group’s choice and why?
Sista Souljah….we had so much fun reading and discussing her book and trying to find out her thought process, so it would be great to talk with her.
GOTTA RUN…BUT BEFORE WE DEPART:
What makes your book club unique and different from any other book club? Well our book club is different from others because we share work with each other such as poems and spoken word pieces. Also we stay in touch with each other even after the book club meetings ;)
If they are in the Chicagoland area, yes! They can e-mail Keyonda at Kreativekeyonda@gmail.com
How can one reach your group on the Web?
We have a myspace page: www.myspace.com/kreativereaders

Kreative Reader’s Book Club I love the name and the spelling!! This is one of the great things about what Yas has done, we are being introduced and introduced to book clubs in our community and surrounding states. I love it.
Kreative this is an open invite just like the one above from Tange to join Reader’s Paradise for a night on the town. So we can do what we do - discuss books, authors and how thankful we are to yas for doing this for US!!
A venue FOR US and ABOUT US!!
Discussion ? -
I grew up on the Dr. Suess books and to this day all my play children have read or had read to them Green Eggs & Ham, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish and as much as I enjoyed them so does my god children.
Another that my mother brought us up with was Highlights magazine. It’s a childrens educational magazine dedicated to helping children grow in basic skills and knowledge, in creativeness, in ability to think and reason, in sensitivity to others, in high ideals, and worthy ways of living—I loved this magazine!
Now they have one titled Highlights for Kids..
I am also a member of Kreative Reader’s Book Club. These are a wonderful group of ladies. I enjoy every discussion. Thanks, Apooo, for the recognition.
Thank you Missy and Tang for the invite, we really need to get together and do some thing;) Contact me on Myspace…or I will message y’sll but I love the idea. Networking is so important. I am thankful to be able to see all the love and support from members and non members and other book clubs!

Mz. Keyonda,
You have my support! I applaud you and the Kreative Readers. Keep up the good work.
It’s good to see a Chicagoland book club spotlighted on APOOO. Several times I attempted to have monthly bookclub meetings, but conflicting schedules would not allow a feasible meeting time. I applaud Kreative Readers Book Club and its members for being dedicated to reading and discussing great novels.

Thumbs up for Kreative Readers of Chi-Town. I’ve enjoyed reading the books you’ve mentioned also. thanks APOOO for the bookclub spotclub!!1
No wonder you have “k/create” in your name. Poetesses and spoken word artists. Wow, you all are doing your thing. It took me awhile to get to TCWE and when I did, I could not believe I waited so long. Looking forward to the sequel, Midnight, in November.
Dera’s last blog post..I’ve Been Called Out
Awww thank you Dera!
I just checked you blog, loved it!! I also can’t wait for the sequel…I need to pre-order my copy. Because word is getting around fast! Thanks for the support diva!
congrats! and good luck!
In February our theme was “A Time to Share”. This was the first time we stepped out of the box and did something different. We all had to write a piece, or get a poetry book and find a piece that represented us an an individual, recite it, and explain. I must say it was an unforgettable, emotional meeting. I can’t wait to do it again this coming February.
Great interview, keep up the good work with your book club. I love to see our people getting together on a positive tip.
CONGRATS KEYONDA!!!
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!
Thanks Kish for the love!!
Hope to chat with you soon;)
Congrats keyonda
Make it happen
Kreative Readers…. Stand UP! My very first book club. Everyone here is so positive and from what I heard and read on the boards, Sincere. To a devoted reader that means a lot because it is easier to share your love for books, life, and love. I am one of the newest members so I haven’t met anyone in person yet but Keyonda has made me feel so welcome and I thank her for that. Thank you to APOOO for showing us some love. Chi-Town Stand Up!
Thank you, thank you, thank you to Kreative Readers Book Club for opening up the cyber doors and giving us a glimpse into your book world. Book clubs make the world go ‘round. Congratulations on the success of your book club.
OOSA Online Book Club´s last blog post..OOSA Online Book Club gave 4 stars to: Preacherman Blues
Just thought I’d show some love & support to my Myspace friends. There is a quote from my book, P.K.’s Betrayal that goes “Isn’t it strange how those that are closest to us seems to hurt us the most?” So it’s time to get cool with the not so close ones :). Best of luck on all you do……Feel free to sign my guestbook, grab a copy, get the group to read it, or just say hi. http://www.myspace.com/pksbetrayal & http://www.terrenceellery.com
My dear Sister Yas,
When you decided to spearhead “Head of the Class” I thought umm this sounds really cool. Your vision was to showcase some of today’s “hottest book clubs”.
Week after week readers, authors and dedicated friends and family stopped by to say hi or to find out what book was being read and who won what book.
Never did I think that I would walk away winning more than a book. Reader’s Paradise walked away from HOTC with books, connections and the start of a wonderful affiliation with Kreative Readers Book Club (Keyonda, Anita and Tonya)
We meet at a cajun cafe on Saturday and had a wonderful time with 2 of Chicago’s talented authors DJ Mclaurin (What if it feels good & Metamorphsis) & Phylydia Hudson (Chi-town twist)
Again Yas thanks so much for bringing together pieces of the literary world that was so close but very far & a shout out to Grand Central Publishing for sponsoring such an OUTSTANDING event which wil lbe remembered years from now.
