Offer TWO tips for a successful book club meeting.
First, when planning your meeting, think about ways to incorporate aspects of the book. That can be food, games, decor or location. Second, thinks of ways to make your discussion as interactive as possible so that it not just discussion, but you are taking the attendees inside of your book.
If your group could have dinner with ONE author, who would be your group’s choice and why?
Ishmael Beah, his story was so captivating that we would want to explore further his experience.
GOTTA RUN…BUT BEFORE WE DEPART:
What makes your book club unique and different from any other book club?
There are several things that make us unique. First, is our selection of books we read. Because we have diverse genres, one reading year to the next is not the same. Second, is our ability to think beyond ourselves, but into the community. Over the last few years, we have been deeply committed to giving back to the community locally and worldwide. Lastly, is in respects to our meetings, our host try to out do each other with their meeting style so that they can be the next winner of the “Lady Award” for the best host.
Is your group currently accepting membership? If so, whom should we contact? Yes we are accepting members. We normally have new members by referral only, but we are opening up 2009.
If interested, ladies should contact us at realladiesread@sbcglobal.net
How can one reach your group on the Web?
You can find us on the web at www.realladiesread.com and myspace at www.myspace.com/realladiesread
Additional information about the group:
RLR is in the process of putting on a literary event in October for middle school children. If you know of any authors, bookstore owners or publishers that would like to come out and showcase their book, donate books, or any other resources to the event please email us at realladiesread@sbcglobal.net. We really want to impact a group of children that get looked over in the educational system. Thank you!

I’m sorry, forgot to answer the question….
What community or philantrophic efforts does your book club support/participate in.
As a reviewing team O.O.S.A. receives quite a few books for submissions. Many of our books once reviewed are donated to schools, libraries and correctional facilities. We pay it forward.
Crystal,
