Another Meme–Booking Through Thursdays

Yet another meme APOOO has found…hehe.  This one happens on Thursdays and it is all about books….Booking Through Thursday.  There is a different question posed each week.  This week’s question is about the weather…and books. ;)   Autumn is starting (here in the US, anyway), and kids are heading back to school–does the changing season change your reading habits? Less time? More? Are you just in the mood for different kinds of books than you were over the summer?

MY RESPONSE:  First, I heart autumn!  Next to spring, it is my favorite season of the year, although it is bittersweet because I know winter is right behind it. :(   But, during the season, I enjoy many things including, foliage watching, going to fall football games, wearing on of my many colorful sweaters, heating up the fireplace, and grabbing a cup of hot chocolate and a good book! But, then again I enjoy reading year-round…it is finding the time to do it that has become difficult of late.  However, this fall I am hoping to read at least one book a week, and try and read maybe two some weeks, so that I can work down my ever-growing TRP.  As far as reading different kind of books, now that the kids are older, I do not really have to read any holiday/seasonal books.  But, I notice that generally doing this time of year, there are not a whole lot of African-American themed books coming out that really grab my attention.   So, this once again helps me to catch up on what is in my existing book pile.  Bottom line my reading taste  does not  really change much in the fall because I am still spending as much time out of the house as possible, but come winter, that is a different story and I find myself reading more ‘meaty,’ literary type books doing that period.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

Does the changing season change your reading habits? Less time? More? Are you just in the mood for different kinds of books than you were over the summer?

  2. Hey Sally thanks for stopping by and thanks for mentioning the African American Christian Fiction titles…I believe they’re already on the radar…and many members of APOOO read them.

  3. You mentioned a few of my favorite things in regards to fall-sweaters, hot chocolate and a book. The only thing I would add is my snuggly blanket. lol. Those piles of books just don’t seem to get any smaller no matter what the season. I hope you manage to get through some of yours.

  4. I love the fall and it has nothing to do with the fact I was born in it. But I love the colors as well oranges, browns and yellows. I love it. Then I am the biggest sweater wearer ever, because I hate wearing my coats, so I also have a lot of ponchos that my mother made for me.

My reading habit kind of stays the same.

  5. Yes, the changing of the seasons change my reading habits. Our winters can be pretty bad here and a sista doesn’t do ice or snow! So during the colder months I am in the house more so I read more. Nice weather, more than likely I’m out somewhere doing something, so I have less time. But no matter the season, I’m reading!
