I also forgot to add that I am thinking of reading The Coldest Winter before the new book comes out. Which means I will have to buy the book again. If I were the publishers I would come out with a new cover for The Coldest Winter and release that before Midnight hits the shelves. Definitely waiting on ‘s EJD’s book, Sister Souljah, and I also may read Connie Briscoe’s book. Hopefully they all will have a Kindle Edition. I am trying to cut back on the print books if I can.

What’s your “waiting on” pick this week? I’m looking for a few books to come out but nothing has me going like I was when I was anticipating “Dutch: The Finale,” which by the way did not disappoint. Is it me, or is the “anticipation” gone because sooooooooo many authors are doing sequels today? It’s lost some of its…power…umph…I’m not sure just what word I’m looking for but most sequels just aren’t cutting it for me. Many aren’t even necessary. With that said, I’ll check out “Midnight,” but it won’t be on the top of my TBR pile. Same with Terry McMillan’s sequel to “Waiting to Exhale.” I am looking forward to EJD’s “Dying for Revenge” because I like the Gideon character. The way “Sleeping with Strangers” ended is how you do it! Make the sequel a must read. Looking forward to the sequels to “Hell Razor Honeys,” “Victoria’s Secret” and “Ski Mask Way,” book three for Moses’ Nan series, and “A Dollar Outta Fifteen Cent 3.”

Speaking of sequels, how much time should lapse before the sequel is released? No more than a year. I hate it when so much time has lapsed that I need to go back and read the first book again because I don’t have the time for that. I’ll wing it, ask someone else that read it also, or read the reviews. Sometimes I’ll flat out contact the author.

What’s your “waiting on” pick this week?
I think mostly everyone will agree, Midnight, by Sister Souljah, is the book we all want and can’t wait to read. More importantly, we’re hoping that it doesn’t flop, lives up to it’s reputation and gives readers that same satisfaction as The Coldest Winter Ever did.

Speaking of sequels, how much time should lapse before the sequel is released?
I would like the sequel to come out in less than a year. First off, I hate books that leave you hanging in the balance, then when you read it you’re like wth was I waiting for.

If the sequel came out eons ago, as is the case for these two books…and was also the case for Gotta Keep on Tryin’ by DeBerry and Grant…do you go back and read the prior book? Or do you wing it? If you wing it, do you get upset that you don’t remember the characters or do you just continue on in hopes that you will remember something…or at the very least one of your book buddies will.
I can’t reread a book no matter how much I loved it the first time. I know a lot of people who do. I like a sequel that allows you enough info about the first book so you feel like you’re still on the same page.

No, because I’ve read it once but what I do is go read the reviews again and that usually sparks my memory of what took place in the previous books.

Laughing…see that’s my sentiments as well…but the cynic marketer in me say’s

Is this a ploy by publishers to get us to not only buy the sequel but the prior book also? And if it is it doesn’t work for me. For several reasons, (1) I already have the book; (2) If I don’t I will check it out of the library; (3) Or I will BORROW it. But, I’m not buying a book to re-read that came out more than 2 years ago…AGAIN…lol. That’s ludicrous. Now, on the flip side, they probably make money off folks who are new to the authors and didn’t read the prior books.
