You remember your Mojo don’t you?

When you know you can do anything, and so you use your powers for good.

You handle your business while looking sexy and feeling badass. (My Mojo likes to wear heels and skirts when she’s kicking ass.)

Yeah.  That Diva.  Y’all seen her lately?

I hadn’t.  Not because I wasn’t out here getting it done, but because I was being reactive.  Letting things happen instead of making things happen.  My Mojo doesn’t operate like that, so she went and sat down until I got my head together.

And I missed her.  I got tired of the woe is me.  Why isn’t this happening the way I want it to?  When am I going to catch a break?

My Mojo was just waiting for me to start asking questions like- What other route can I take to reach my goal? What else can I get going while waiting for this other thing to jump off?  What do I need to let go in order to move forward?  My mojo wanted me to give up the helpless role.

So I did.

The Control Freak in me did her happy dance.  She is once again exercising control.

Cue the Powerpoint presentation that I always give about self-care, being your truest self,  yada, yada, yada.  On second thought, don’t.  Y’all already know the drill.

To get out of your reactive rut, be proactive.  Start slow. Make a decision and INITIATE one thing towards a goal.  It’s like running, if you haven’t been doing it awhile, you can’t get out there and run a marathon first time out in months.  Build momentum and stay committed.

What do you do to get your Mojo back?

  1. Getting my MOJO back ususally involves three things.

First, saying it out loud. For some reason, my best ideas come when I am having a conversation about what I really want to do.

Secondly, getting a GOOD night’s sleep. Great ideas swirl around in my head the first few hours of my day.

Thirdly, documenting the ideas for later action. Whether I write it down, say it into my digital recorder during my commute to work, or send myself an email to home or work, I have captured it and poised myself for action the minute I get a chance.

    Then, I just do it!

  2. Humm interesting..

  3. If I am trying to achieve something like getting back into my mode of writing or working out I will do it the same time every day, until it becomes a part of the pattern pf my every day activities.

  4. Speaking of mo-jo…I just found mine again when it comes to exercising and now I need to just take the advice of Djuanna’s man…and …JUST DO IT…it ain’t about motivation when it comes to exercising cause who’s ever really motivated to do it…it’s about HEALTH and sometimes it takes work to feel and look good.

  5. To get my mojo back – I write it down & do a project plan so I can keep track and don’t have to think about it – just do it

Yas – exercise is not bad – just need to find a form that you like to do and then it will not seem like exercise but a hobby you like :)

  6. I don’t know how I missed this when it originally posted, but whew, I got my mojo back this week and I’m on a tear, but when it was missing I was doing the same thing…”Woe is me, why is this happening, why did I say I would do this, life keeps happening.”

And I agree that getting it back is a matter of taking control and making things happen with action.

    Great post!
