Have you ever decided to stay in a relationship for the sake of the relationship no matter how you feel, or if it is something you have decided you no longer need in your life?  Perhaps it takes a chance meeting someone else to help you see the true health of your relationship; what should you do?  Author Mary E. Gilder shares in A Misrepresentation of Myself how we should do all that we can to stay true to who we are in spite of our relationship(s) with others.

It appears that Zolla Ramsey has it all…the clothes, the house in an affluent neighborhood, the husband that has no problem giving her everything she can ever ask for.  But what about her true heart’s desire?  Is living in a gated community and accumulating beautiful, material things the answer to the emptiness and depression Zola feels?
When Zola met attorney Maxwell Garrison, her reaction to him was far from what her character would ever suggest, especially in a professional setting.  However, Zola could not deny what she was feeling, and how it fulfilled her in a way she could not have ever imagined.

As Zola and Maxwell’s relationship grew, Zola realized that he was indeed her true soul mate; a connection outside of her marriage.  It was something she despised in others, her mother in particular.  How could Zola have such a connection to a man that she was not married to, and what should she do about a relationship that seemed to complete who she is?

One wonders if it is absolutely possible to find their soul mate after they have committed themselves to another in marriage, and yet be honest enough with themselves to admit that it is so, that it could it be real.  A Misrepresentation of Myself encourages everyone to be honest with themselves first, in order to find their way to what is real and true in their lives and relationships.  I recommend this book to those who love romance and true love.
