LUST. LIES. VENGEANCE.
Any Pamla Samuels-Young fans in APOOO’s midst? I have read a couple of Samuels-Young books and they’re really good mysteries. Was hoping APOOO would get a review copy of Murder on the Down Low so that we could do a pre-buzz. Didn’t receive a review copy, but APOOO did receive a book trailer which you can view below.
BOOK DESCRIPTION: A high-profile lawsuit erupts into chaos, revealing its place in a larger spree of violence in this scandalous tale of lust, lies, and vengeance. A brazen gunman is targeting prominent African American men on the streets of Los Angeles, and police are completely baffled. At the same time, savvy big-firm attorney Vernetta Henderson and her outrageous sidekick, Special, lead the charge for revenge against a man whose deceit caused his fianceé’s death. For Special, hauling the man into court and suing him for wrongful death just isn’t good enough. While she exacts her own brand of justice, a shocking revelation connects the contentious lawsuit and the puzzling murders.
Discussion Question
Did the book trailer entice you to want to read the book? Why or why not?

This trailer is da bomb!
LADIES OF COLOR TURNING PAGES had the pleasure of Pamela Samuels Young to join us for discussion last year. We went to her book party in July 2008. On September 14, 2008 we are discussing MURDER ON THE DOWN LOW. I know it’s going to be an interesting discussion.
The music is intriguing. Short but sweet. I had grown weary of the down low theme but I might have to pick this one up/

I like Pamela Samuels mysteries, I would buy/read the book based on the trailer and the description I have hear of the book.
I’m a little tired of the Down Low theme too, but I still want to read this book. The trailer is tantalizing; it reminds me of a TV crime drama, which I love.
Pamela Samuels-Young outdid herself with this one. It is her best work yet for many reasons, mainly for me because we get a more personal glimpse at the woman that is Vernetta Henderson. Aside from the issues that the story tackles, it also continues a dialogue that needs to be constantly in the forefront of our minds.
