Today’s MUSING MONDAY asks…
Could you narrow down your reading to a favorite genre and author? Why, or why not?
Hmmm…nope. I read too many books and genres to have ONE favorite genre or author. I like Wally Lamb, Gloria Naylor, Terry McMillian, Tananarive Due, James Patterson, Alex Pate, Kalisha Buckhanon, LA Banks, Shelia Williams and the list goes on. I enjoy reading literary fiction, contemporary fiction, paranormal, sci-fi, mysteries, suspense, thrillers, chick-lit and, of late, historical fiction. For me, maybe it would be easier to ask me what I don’t I like.
What about you? APOOO wants to know do you have a favorite genre or author?

My favorite genre is historical fiction but I have supported and enjoyed other genres as well (i.e. contemporary fiction, women’s fiction, suspense, literary fiction). My favorite author is J. California Cooper.
Hey Lena just found out something new about you…didn’t know you were a big historical fiction fan or that your favorite author was J. Cali Cooper.
No, I can not norrow it down. I do not read much in the line of Sci-Fi, paranormal, mysteries, suspense or thrillers. I think that is why I never really got into Walter Mosley(I think that is his name) and there was a female writer, who I tried because her person was based out of NJ where I am from. I do however love Tananarive Due.
I guess if I was pressed to answer it is a tie between Romance and Urban Lit.
I like too many so I’ll be general and say AA fiction is my favorite genre. As far as authors, again there are too many. I have many favs, each for a different reason.

I’d say Christian fiction but I enjoy too many authors to pick one. And I enjoy a wide variety of genres so what I’m reading is in part based on what I have a taste for at that time.

If I have to choose I would say AA romance. I do enjoy other genres but I do not read alot of mysteries and suspense, I have dabbled in the Paranormal, but only if one of my favorites authors decides to take a walk on the “dark” side. And I also like contemporary fiction. and can only take a limited amount of Urban Lit.
Me too! I dont stick to any one genre at all!

I don’t want to pick one genre or author. I read and enjoy too many for different reasons.
I just like to say I enjoy reading AA novels by AA authors. .
Howdy. I find it boring to stick to one genre. My post is up now. Come by and visit my blog when you have the time.

I haven’t gotten to Musing Mondays yet but I can already say that there is no way I could narrow down to one genre or author.

I read just about every genre. I couldn’t pick just one because I would do myself a dis justice. I would miss out on great works if I picked just one thing. My list for genres I don’t care for or like would be easier.

I like commercial ficiton, romance, suspense, christian ficiton and the list goes on and on. My favorite authors list is too long so I won’t even attempt to list them.

I read and enjoy several genres and styles but I must say I am partial to southern literature, whether historical or contemporary. Stories with a southern theme that put you in the place, setting and culture of the south.
