Welcome to APOOO, Delores!
In 140 words or less, tell us a little about you.
I grew up in Long Island City, New York in the Queens bridge Projects. I joined the Air Force as a means of pursuing higher education and hopefully doing some traveling. I am single, and have no children. I love organic gardening, the theater, doing volunteer work with senior citizens reading and writing. I work as a medical technologist at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.
In 140 words or less, tell readers why Secrets and Lies would make a great addition to our personal library.
Love, Lies & Lab Coats would make a great addition to your library for several reasons. This story covers so many topics that we face from day to day. People struggle with weight loss, anxiety, emotional eating, drug abuse, smoking, lack of self confidence, procrastination and loss to name a few. I personally was able to revive my spirit by reading self help books and finding a new path. In this story, I created problems and gave them to my characters to help each other work out. And because I also enjoy a good love story, I weaved these social issues around that and have been getting excellent feed back for my effort.
When you wrote Love, Lies & Lab Coats, what did you develop first–the plot or the characters? Why?
The characters and the plot found each other. I was thinking about topics I wanted to write about and how I could put it out there realistically and also with a little self help flavor. So I paired in most cases a black and white character and each with something to work on. And then I tried to make my characters a little against the grain, not just another character that you’ve seen before but at the same time one you can relate to.
What’s the main message you want readers to take away from Love, Lies & Lab Coats?
Do not underestimate the power of love and forgiveness for self and others.
Describe a day in the life of Delores Bostic.
My day is determined by the previous night I had at work. I work 3:30 to midnight and here lately until 1 or 2 a.m. I try to make regular appearances to the gym, spend a little time with whatever project I’m working on and of course keep up with email etc. I also go out to see what’s happening in my fall garden. I’m very low key, my phones see a lot of time off because I hate having my sleep interrupted and I really like living my live at my own pace.
