2. In 140 words or less, tell readers about Long Walk Up and why we should add it to our personal library.

Long Walk Up is a significant and poignant story that examines the life of a young orphan, a child pushed into the street alone when her mother dies from malaria.  The child, a little girl from East Africa named Mulukan, goes on to become Africa’s first female president.  Her intense story takes an honest look at unforeseen events, heart tugging coincidences that become the threads in the fabric of our lives.  Mulukan’s story strikes a perfect balance between resistance and triumph.  This remarkable child’s story searches your hearts and calls you to ascend.

3.  What’s the main message you want readers to take away from A Long Walk Up?

You can overcome any obstacle and achieve great success!  Your destiny is waiting for you.  Start now to walk towards it!

4.  What is your most surprising talent or interest – the one that makes people say “I didn’t know you (did/liked/knew)…”?–I am an effective public speaker and educator.  I used to be shy and quiet, so I am sure that folks would be surprised to hear me speak in public as I get results.

5.  You have just been hired to clean your own home, what is your first complaint?

How did I collect all of this clutter being that I just did a complete cleaning of my home a year ago!!

6.  If you had a shrinking device, what’s the one thing in your house you’d miniaturize first?–Nothing.  I want everything, all the rooms, etc. to be bigger.  LOL!

7.  What’s one song that people would be surprised to know is on your IPod (or in your music collection)? –In Da Club by 50 Cent

8.  Is there a song that brings tears to your eyes every time you hear it? If so, which one?

No song that brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it, but the Temptations version of “Silent Night” moves me deeply.  That song was playing on the radio the first Christmas I spent without my mom after she transitioned when I was 8 years old.

9.  You’ve got no electricity, no Internet, no phone, and no car for two whole days. What do you do with yourself?–Write, meditate, strike up conversations with folks I’ve never met before and explore my outdoor surroundings more deeply.

10.  Name five things that make your world go round.

Our Creator

Connecting with other people and nature

Writing

Reading good books

Laughing
