Welcome to APOOO, Jeannie!
In 140 words or less, tell us a little about yourself.
I am the author of “Color Me Black”, my first published novel. My second book, “Jeannie Eneh’s Steamy Adult Bed-Tales,” will be released summer 2012. I’m currently working on my third book. I’m really blessed to have a creative imagination. Having graduated from Booker T. Washington School of the Performing Arts in Dallas I credit their Theatre Arts Program, in which I studied there, for exposing me to various forms of being a writer. I was school mates with Eryka Badu and Roy Hargrove.
In 140 words or less, tell us why Color Me Black would make a great addition to our personal library.
Color Me Black is a spicy novel filled with energy and exciting twists. It’s a novel you can read two or three times and still enjoy it. After reading Color Me Black you’re asking your girl-friends have they read it.
How did you come up with the premise for Color Me Black?
Wow! I wanted to write something that was different. I wanted to flip the script in which a nice looking white guy finds the black female delectable.
What are some of the main themes portrayed in Color Me Black?
One of the main themes that I personally like is when Autumn and Bug are filming the music video. Everyone is enjoying the ambience of the scenery but something bad is lurking in the very near future.
What makes Color Me Black different from other books in the marketplace?
Color Me Black is very different from other novels. For example one of the main characters has a secret in his closet that could possibly break his thriving music career.
What genre is Color Me Black and who’s the target audience?
The genre is hip-hop, urban black romance fiction. The target audience are book lovers of young adult and old, female & male. I love it when a man is reading! Yea!
What’s the best advice that someone has given you about the publishing industry?
The best advice I’ve received was to not take NO for an answer. NO is not in my vocabulary.
What’s the most favorable review you’ve received to date regarding Color Me Black?
“Will there be a Color Me Black II?”
What can readers expect from you in the future?
Readers can expect from me in the future more exciting books and ultimately I’d like to write a screen play for the big screen in Bollywood! In fact I’m brainstorming a few ideas just for that!
Is there anything else you would like to share with APOOO readers?
Pray fully, one day I’d like to work with John Singleton. I love all his work, he is very talented and unique to say the least. Call me John!
Jeannie, thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to hang out with APOOO and we wish you many blessings with your literary endeavors.
