Greetings  Kimberla and welcome to APOOO!

In 140 words or less, tell readers why Be Careful What You Pray For would make a great addition to our personal library.
I think BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU PRAY FOR would be a great addition to anyone’s personal library because it’s drama-filled, romantically-suspense-filled, and shows just how careful every single person should be when they’re hoping, wishing and praying for something.  Alicia prays for an extremely wealthy husband, finds one (Pastor JT Valentine), but little does she know, he is worse than her father, Curtis, ever was.

How did you come up with the plot for Be Careful What You Pray For?
I created the plot after finishing the first book centered on Alicia and her first marriage.  With Phillip, her first husband, she literally had the best life and the kind any woman would have loved.  But having a truly decent man who loved her wasn’t enough.  So, I started thinking what if the tables turned?  What if she did find a man who could give her all the material and worldly possessions she wanted?  What would be the consequences of that?

Are you working on another book and, if so, can you share a brief summary with us?
Yes, I’m working on what will be the 8th title in my Reverend Curtis Black series, and this time the story will center on Curtis and Charlotte and how they have no choice except to take in Curtis’s illegitimate daughter on a permanent basis once her mother passes away.

What was your favourite 2009 moment?
Personally:  My favorite moment was when my husband and I celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary last September on South Beach!

Professionally:  My favorite moment was the day I was offered a new 4-book deal from Karen Thomas (the first editor I ever had) and Grand Central Publishing.  I feel beyond blessed to be back working with her and also to be working with such a wonderful group of people as a whole.

Which living person do you most admire?
Barack Obama for stepping out on faith and doing what most of us never would have imagined he could do even five years ago and for staying the course, regardless of how many people criticized him and still do.  I know what it’s like to be criticized when it comes to my writing, so I can’t even imagine being in his position.

What are your most overused words or phrases?
I’d rather not say, because if no one ever picks up on them, I don’t want them to!

If you could meet any historical character, who would it be and what would you say to him or her?
I’m not sure about which historical character I’d like to meet, but if I could meet any real person in history, it would be Jesus.  This is always my answer, and I would simply say “Thank you for everything and then some.”

What is your biggest pet peeve?
People who lie.

What is your most surprising talent or interest – the one that makes people say “I didn’t know you (did/liked/knew)…”?
That my most favorite place in the world is to be right here at home with my husband and not traveling off to exotic islands or countries.  I enjoy going on vacations, but being at home with Will is what has always made me the happiest.

What’s one song that people would be surprised to know is on your IPod (or in your music collection)?
Probably no surprises, as my iPod contains all Gospel and R & B songs.

Name five things that make your world go round.
1.  My relationship with God
2.  Will M. Roby, Jr.– my wonderful husband!
3.  Watching my beautiful nieces and nephews grow up
4.  Meeting and communicating with my readers, both in person and online
5.  Eating delectable desserts!

Kimberla thanks for taking time out of your busy schedules and spending a few with APOOO.

  3. Nice interview! Congratulations on the four-book deal, I’m looking forward to those books, as well! You know I’ve already read Be Careful What You Pray For, and as always, I enjoyed it tremendously! That J.T. was something else, but Alicia was ready for him! LOL!

  4. Curtis Black is one of my favorite characters so I’m glad to read he’ll be back on center stage in another book.
