Greetings Tia and welcome to APOOO!

Thanks! There’s nothing like having a comfortable place on the web to “kick back and relax”!

In 140 words or less, tell readers about Tia McCollors.

I’m a loyal wife and a mother of two children who is blessed to be able to do what I love – write faith-filled books. I’m an early bird who hates cooking, but loves cleaning up and organizing. My favorite summer treat is a strawberry banana smoothie and I love sitting down with a hearty bowl of meaty spaghetti or chili beans in the winter. Let me see…I’m a full-time Mama and a part-time author who has written four inspirational novels and one story in an anthology. At the time of this interview, I’m working on my fifth book, Steppin’ Into The Good Life.

In 140 words or less, tell readers why The Last Woman would make a great addition to our personal library.

Who wouldn’t want to read a story about a man, his ex-wife, and his current girlfriend? That subject alone screams drama!  But The Last Woman Standing is about a pilot nicknamed Ace who knows in his heart that he’s falling back in love with his ex-wife, Lynette. They’ve been divorced for four years, and Ace has been dating his current girlfriend, Sheila, for two years. Even though he hasn’t admitted it, Sheila can feel him pulling away so she determines to fight for her man. And it might be quite a fight because Lynette has also felt her feelings being reignited for Ace. Ding! Ding! Each woman to their own corner. Let’s make this a clean fight ladies! LOL!

How did you come up with the plot for The Last Woman Standing?

I have an author friend (who shall remain nameless) who has an amazing relationship with her ex-husband. I asked her once if she was still in love with him. She said, “No.” But in my head, I thought, “What if she’s lying?” And thus the story began.
Are you working on another book and, if so, can you share a brief summary with us?

Sure. My current work in progress is titled “Steppin’ Into The Good Life,” and it’s the sequel to The Last Woman Standing.  I can’t tell too much about it because I don’t want to give away the story of The Last Woman Standing. But I can say that: Sheila sat on a back church pew with plans to leave love behind, but ended up finding a lover like no other.

Thus far, what has been your favorite 2010 moment?
Career wise: signing a contract is always a great thing! Family wise: summer vacation and all the fun that comes along with it.
What are your most overused words or phrases?

“Y’all sit down in there or I’m telling your daddy.”  “What can I cook for dinner?” “I need a ‘me’ day.” “Reagan, sit down on that potty and don’t get up until there’s tee-tee in there.” “Oohh. I’m gonna put that in a book.”   I bet I use all of those phrases daily – usually more than once!

What is your biggest pet peeve? Clutter. (Cluttered environment equals a cluttered mind).

What is your most surprising talent or interest – the one that makes people say “I didn’t know you (did/liked/knew)…”? Oh goodness. Now I have to reveal that I might actually be quite a boring person. I can’t think of one surprising thing about myself!

What’s one song that people would be surprised to know is on your IPod (or in your music collection)? An entire collection of Justin Timberlake (although my close friends wouldn’t be surprised by that at all!)

Name five things that make your world go round.

In no particular order I would say:

  1. My husband and kids (Does that count as three?)
  2. My relationship with God
  3. A good laugh
  4. Reading and/or writing a good book
  5. Chasing & catching my dreams

Tia thanks for taking time out of your busy schedules and spending a few with APOOO.  Via Tia on the web at www.tiamccollors.com

  3. Enjoyed the interview. Tia’s “overused phrases” had me laughing out loud….and I’m not at all surprised by the songs in her iPod. Don’t know what it is about her and that Justin, but anyway…LOL! Enjoyed “Last Woman Standing” and looking forward to the sequel.
