In 140 words or less, tell us a little about you.
I’m a pretty simple kinda gal who loves to read, watch sports, travel, and catch a Broadway show. I’ve been lucky enough to see three books and a novella published in the last two years and can only hope many more of the hundreds of stories in my head will someday make it onto bookshelves.
In 140 words or less, tell us why your book would make a great addition to our personal library.
I’ve been a pretty regular lurker at APOOO over the past couple of years, and I’m convinced my newest release, Rescue Me, is the type of book APOOO readers would love. It will make you laugh (I hope), make you cry (which I hate to do, but did a number of times while writing this book), and make you fall absolutely in love with the Holmes Brothers (I guarantee it)!
Regarding 2009…
What are your writing goals?
This year I hope to revise the single-title romance I finished just before the end of last year, and write and revise the second book in the series. I’m also working on another holiday anthology to be released this fall.
What are your reading goals?
Gosh, if I could chip away just a small piece of my massive to-be-read pile, I’ll be satisfied. I’ve got hundreds of books on my bookshelf just waiting to be read, but I’m also constantly buying new books. I’d like to read at least 25 – 30 books in ‘09. A few years ago, that number would have been doubled, but when I’ve got my own deadlines to meet, reading for pleasure must take a backseat.
Name one thing you would like to do differently this year.
I want to be more disciplined with my writing schedule. I wasted way too much time in ‘08.
Name one person (who you don’t normally see) that you would like to see or be in contact with more often this year.
That question could get me in trouble. *smile* I’ve got a great group of friends whom I don’t get to see nearly as often as I would like, and there’s not one that I’d like to see more than another. We’re a group package.
How did you celebrate President-Elect Barack Obama’s inauguration?
I took the day off from work (with my boss’s blessings) to celebrate this very special occasion. I watched the cable news stations from 6:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. I also shared at least two hundred text messages with my sister and brother throughout the day as we commented on everything from Chief Justice Robert’s flub to the cuteness that is Sasha and Malia Obama.
What was the last nice thing you said to someone?
I told the checkout girl at the grocery store that I liked the bright purple streak in her hair.
What was the last nice thing someone said to you?
That same girl told me she liked my haircut.
What’s the nicest thing a reader has ever said to you about your book?
I’ve been lucky enough to receive some really great emails from readers, but one of the best was from a reader who said she’d read my first novel, Deliver Me, five times. I was floored, and flattered. I have certain authors whose work I read over and over again. They are my comfort reads. It was so awesome to know that I had become someone’s comfort read.
What’s your favorite saying/quote?
Luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity.

I loved your story in The Holiday Inn. Added plus that it was an autographed copy from a contest in December. I look forward to reading Rescue Me.

I just purchased Rescue Me from the Barnes & Noble in Dc’s Union Station! I was glad to see more AA romance represented; it’s still coming but much better than before. I look forward to reading your book.
I enjoy your work, I always look forward your writing, It’s refreshing to see AA romance. I love the complexity of the characters, I fully enjoy the plot and I like the way everything just flows smoothly it feels like I know the charcaters personally, that I’m really there, congratulations on your new book.
Looking forward to reading your books.
Three books and a novella published in the last two years is quite an accomplishment. Congrats. I look forward to checking out your work!
Cheers,
Joan
Great interview. I especially can relate to the wasting time in 2008. I’m trying to do better in 2009.
This was a very informative interview. I hear you about being more disciplined and wasting time. Do I need to read your books in order? Which one is the first in the series?
One of my best friends is a Rochon on her mother’s side. They are from New Iberia.
Great Interview!
I have your latest “Rescue Me” on my bookshelf – waiting to be read. I will be traveling next week and I think that will be a good time to delve into Alex’s story.
Farrah, love your quote.
LaShonda, I’m so happy you enjoyed Chandra & Derek’s story. I had such fun writing that.
Niambi, thanks for that tip! Nice to know the book is getting on the shelves. I hope you enjoy it. Email me and let me know.
,b>Anna, thanks so much for the super kind words. That totally brightens this dreary Tuesday here in Austin. I still have to pinch myself sometimes when I hear readers saying they enjoy *my* books! Really? You actually enjoyed something I created in this little ol’ head? LOL.
Dera, I’m a stickler for reading in order, so if you are too, you definitely want to read them in order. The order is Deliver Me, Release Me, and Rescue Me, or as I refer to them, Eli, Toby and Alex.
Beverly, Sharon, Joan, I hope you all enjoy! Again, please let me know. I love hearing from readers.
Shelia, I got that quote from none other than Oprah Winfrey.

Farrah, once again, THANK YOU so much for hanging out with friends of APOOO. We enjoyed reading your interview responses and wish you many blessings with your literary endeavors.
I love the strong sense of family in your books and the great job you do of portraying how family members can tease and squabble yet still love each other fiercely. Moving always makes one less productive in my experience. Here’s to a more productive 2009 for both of us!

Rescue Me is on my to-be-read pile. I can’t wait to dig in. I love the Holmes brothers and can’t wait to see how Alex finds love, and how his little diva-in-training daughter deals with daddy finding love…
Gwyneth
Yasmin, thanks for having me here! I love dropping in at APOOO. You have the most loyal readers.
Shauna, the move did cause a stir in the productivity, but I think it’s going to even out now that I’m settling in. Just agreed to a new lease, so I guess I’m staying in Austin a bit longer.
Gywn, I hope the diva-in-training lives up to your expectations.

Farrah,
I always enjoy your work and I enjoyed your interview! I met you in San Francisco at the RWA Conference, and I have been telling everyone about your work. How are you enjoying Austin? I love Texas, it’s so big and spacious, and that means a lot coming from California! Anyway, I look forward to your new releases. Talk to you soon!
Shauna, CONGRATS…per random generator you won (number 12) a copy of Farrah’s latest book, Rescue Me. Please email your mailing address to apooo4uATyahooDOTcom and I will forward it to Farrah.
Oh, poor Jessica who had to endure me hugging her and jumping up and down because someone actually knew who I was.
I apologized for that, right?
Anyway, thanks for dropping by, and for asking about Austin. I just love it!
