The Playground Whore by Brandi Jenee is a spellbinding, gritty look into depression, anxiety and an assortment of other dysfunctions.  Main character, Dinah Bradley was an adult therapist who decided she wanted to write a book to let women know they were allowing themselves to be used and abused.  Little did Dinah know she was once herself in an abusive relationship.  Not knowing you ask? Dinah had blocked out a horrific part of her college life.  It seemed to be a story unfolding right before her eyes, the only people that knew were her parents and they were so happy to have her alive and seemingly well that they just did not want to shatter her spirit; with the details of the person she used to be.

Ms. Jenee has woven a tale that will have you on the edge of your seat in anticipation of finding out what happened to Dinah. Donald, her loving husband, stood by her side but he became frightened with this sudden change in her demeanor.  Dinah was having out-of-body experiences, screaming, fighting, and cursing in her sleep for hours on end.  Donald had created a log to see if he could pinpoint why all of a sudden this is happening. Could it be stress related since she is working long hours to promote her new book? Or was there something that Dinah was hiding from him?

When Donald sought support from her best friend, Shawna, this story became juicier, and juicier.  Donald has lost sleep, been sneaking around and Shawna became tight-lipped as well.  Dinah wondered what was going on with her. She had become depressed and lethargic; could a baby help keep this marriage together?  Why did she feel like she was losing her mind?  Will the extra work and publicity be the demise of her marriage?  Dinah is at wits end.  Who is this mystery man emailing her, is he a link to the past that she has repressed?  Stays tuned and hold on to your seats; you will not believe the ending of The Playground Whore.
I recommend this book to readers who love a little bit of everything; mystery, love, emotions. The Playground Whore is filled with so much you will not be able to put it down.
