We all tend to pray for what we believe we deserve or what we want. However, the magnitude of what we are praying never comes into play until after we receive the blessing. Some things we ask for are too much to handle all at one time. In Been There Prayed That: New Day Divas Series Book Two, several people have to stop and reevaluate what is going on around them. Can they see past what they believe to be their destiny, finally accepting God’s plan?

When Mother Doreen’s sister, Bethany, became very ill she unselfishly left her church, New Day Temple of Faith, to go help her sister and her niece and nephew. However, once there she gets a sinking feeling about the real relationship between Bethany and the assistant pastor of her church, Living Word, Living Waters. Mother Doreen believes God is trying to use her to get her sister’s family back together. Is Mother Doreen hearing God correctly? Or, is it all in her imagination?

Before leaving New Day Temple of Faith, Mother Doreen suggested that Sister Lorain be the overseer of the Single’s Ministry. Some members, especially Sister Unique, did not care too much for how Lorain was handling the ministry. Only Unique felt compelled to make a change. Lorain had been praying for God to help her do right for the ministry, however, is she really ready for the solution He sends her?

These characters are a hoot. Sometimes I laughed out loud and other times my heart strings were pulled. I liked the realness of the plot. We all know that no one is perfect, not even the faithful members of the church. I did not care for the way the book ended, because it left me with many questions unanswered. I hope my questions will be answered in the next installment of the New Day Divas Series. While I await the next book, I will go read She Who Finds a Husband, the first in the series. I recommend Been There Prayed That: New Day Divas Book Two.
