I became depressed when McCain was ahead in the first returns. As Obama caught up with, then passed McCain, I was in awe. When he hit over 300 all I could do was scream, cry, and dance, then wish my Parents were here to see this historical day.

This is the result of all the work done in the movement, and Dr. King's words have come true. He saw further than I did, than many of us did.

BUT I have to remember Obama is NOT the President of Black People, he is the President of ALL people. The entire USA, including those who don't want him.

May God guide his hand.

I was at my daughter's house and we had taken a break from CNN and during a commerical we turned it back and that was when they were making a prediction that Obama had won. It was 8 o'clock and the polls had just closed in California. We hooped and hollered and immediately the texts and phones calls started coming. I called my 82-year old mother and she was crying. I fell apart when the First Family came out on the stage.

P.S., We have not had an attractive Commander-In- Chief since JFK, so it also a bonus that he is very easy on the eyes as well. I definitely will be checking out all of his State Of the Union's LOL!!

I was sitting on my couch reading "Midnight" by Sister Souljah, saying I wasn't going to follow the election because I knew that it was in the bag, but I couldn't help myself, I did not watch until he got 207 electoral votes, then it was on from there, I was alone but you would have thought it was a party going on. When the announced Barack as the 44th President of the US!! I screamed, cried, shouted, danced and then proceeded to drink a whole bottle of champagne by myself . And I stayed up watching T.V. till about 4 in the morning, watching the same thing over and over again. I am so proud of him, proud to be black (as always) but also proud to be American.. I'm so hopeful and I know that he can't clean up 8 years worth of garbage in 4, but I will believe that he will put us in the right direction.

When I watched Sherri become so emotional I got a little misty eyed. Why? Because I have been telling my 8 year-old son for years he could one day be the first AA President of the US, and now I see he will have to be a different number. I having been telling him this even though I knew the chances were so slim, but now I know he has a better chance at it if that is what he wants to do.

On Tuesday night I had my 3 year-old jumping up and down when he saw the blue and booing when he saw the red. He had no clue what we were celebrating but he knows when he saw the blue was the winner, he was screaming "WE WON!" He also maybe a the president one day. And if he can get so excited over seeing more blue than red then the world should too.

Right now the economy has been in the red for so long we as a nation should understand why it's so important for us to see more blue right now. I hate it for those who can't see pass their noses why this is a good thing. Not because of color, but because of the change and the hope we have in a better and brighter day ahead.
