Hey everyone and thanks for sharing your list; it was a pleasure to hear that some of you have already read your first book. For those who asked for a copy of Angela’s book…I’ll be in touch with more details as soon as I hear from her. Happy Reading.
PS–I finished reading The Shack today…what a poignant and riveting book! Has anyone read this one…it’s definitely one of my Top 10 for this year…and might be the #1 read for me. I really enjoyed this book…and it’s one that I will probably read again because there’s so much between the pages that really makes one think.

I finished my first challenge book, Almost Single by Advaita Kala, a chicklit about the angst of being single and dating in India. A fast, fun read.
Now reading Celeste Norfleet’s Following Love, which is a couple of years old but a very enjoyable read. Not on my challenge list though.
I read The Shack last year. It was on my Honorable Mentions list for 2008. Lot of controversy in the Christian community behind this one, but I enjoyed it.
PatriciaW´s last blog post..Reader/Writer Tidbits — April 4, 2009
Patricia I finished The Shack and absolutely loved it…but it aligns with how I see relationships with God…and I can definitely understand why conservatives, esp. white males, would take issues with this book. But since I know who I serve…and that this book is fiction…I took it all with stride…but I think it would make a great book for a bible study/Sunday School class discussion…! It’s one of those books where I think folks could appreciate discussing it in a group setting and separating what’s fact vs. fiction…
My new list

Nicole what do you think of The Company We Keep?
I am still compiling my list. I am currently reading Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man. Once I complete this, I will move on to Drama in the Church. Once I get my list together, I will come back in to post. I would love to read Angela Benson’s book.
I’m only about 60 pages in but so far I’m not impressed. I really have no idea where she is going with this book. I know that you and at least one other person didn’t care for it so my expectations are low.
Okay so I’ve already started the quarter off slacking!!!
( I’m reading book #1 now. But I brought it to work. So that’s a great sign! I can’t wait to sneak away and read some more! It’s LOVERS & LIARS!! WHOA!!!! It’s a good one, but it has me FIRED UP!!!!!!!!!!!
I finished one of the books on my Challenge List:
Defying Desire – A.C. Arthur
This is the 3rd book in the Donovan Brothers series. While I have enjoyed the series – I will admit this my favorite book of the series.
I enjoy A.C. Arthur writing – she telling an interesting story with a hint ot erotica.
I read this book while at the hairdresser getting color and my hair cut and I am sure my stylist must have wondered what was going on in the book that kept me so quite.
I am interested in Angela Benson’s book.
Thanks
I finished Shameless Hoodwives on Sunday and it was a good one! The women in Bentley Manor are wild, crazy, and full of drama! I’m looking forward to The Hood Life, the next one in this series! I’m currently reading Nobobdy But You by Francis Ray. It’s off and running, which is great. I should be finished by tonight!
Nicole I share your sentiments regarding Monroe’s book…it seems like it was written to meet a deadline as it didn’t flow smoothly and I can’t even tell you what the plot was.
Donnica…U R so funny…lol.
Beverly…gotcha.
Jessica…the women (and men) of Bentley Manor are skraight up crazy…hehe.

Hey VCM the challenge can work however you want it to…so if decide to read 13 books (without a list) that’s kewl…just work it. I read The Warmest December years ago…and I remember it was a very depressing read…but also a very good read. I miss Bernice McFadden.
