  1. Welcome back, Yas! We were worried about you! This has been a slow past two weeks for me, too! I haven’t lost my mojo, I’ve just been busy with all of the end of the year school activities and a lot of stuff to do at work! I’ve only read Some Like It Hot by Brenda Jackson, Taste of Passion by Brenda Jackson, and I’m almost finished with Every Woman Needs A Wife by Naleighna Kai! All three are great reads, and I highly recommend them!

Next up is Bring On the Blessings by Beverly Jenkins, Once Upon A Project by Bettye Griffin, and Bad Girls Burn Slow by Pam Ward. I am definitely on track to complete my challenge this time, since I have 4 or 5 books to read, and I will be on vacation after next week! Wish me luck, too! LOL!

  2. I am behind on reading the books for the challenge. My challenge was to read 9catch-up) on some the romance books sitting on my shelf.
I started one book in a series that was on my list – so decided not to read the other books in the series and have substituted another series which I am enjoying. So this past week I read the first two books in the Mother Nature Matchmaker series – Temperature Rising by Brenda Jackson and Sultry Storm by Celeste Norfleet. Both were excellent reads.
This week I will read Sins of My Father and the new Carmen Green book.

  3. Hey Jessica…thanks for the welcome back…I’m here but for the life of me I can’t believe that I haven’t been reading…so unlike me…I hope this passes soon as it’s wrecking my reading mojo…lol. Glad that you’re reading and enjoying the books you’re reading. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Bring on the Blessings and Once Upon a Project…as I read the first and started the second one.

Beverly, reading is always more fun when you’re enjoying the books that you’re reading…sometimes you have to sit the not-so-good books aside.

  4. I read all mines..LOL

  6. I understand Yas, but for me, I think I picked books to get off of my list and still I have no interest in reading them. Maybe we should try having a blind list. I know that would be too easy! LOL… Well like Yas, I too have FOUR books to go. AND, it’s not looking promising!

  7. Since the last update, I finished 7 books: A New KInd of Bliss by Bettye Griffin, Ready-Made Family by Cheryl Wyatt, Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol by Thomas Mula, HIssy Fit by Mary Kay Andrews, His Forever Love by Missy Tippens, A Passion Denied by Julie Lessman, and Taste of Passion by Brenda Jackson. That makes for a total of 28 books so far this quarter, ten from my original list.

It’s been fun but it’s not a great thing because that means I’m not writing as much as I could.

Now reading You Make Me Feel Like Dancing a “Boomer Lit” that draws upon nostalgia for the 1970′s disco era.

  10. @ Donnica…rotflmao so tell us how you really feel about those books that you rated 2/2.5…hehe.

  11. I’ve been off-track, as well. I finished reading The Beautiful Struggle. Once I got used to the poetic style, I was able to read it and appreciate the son’s struggle to be a man in the midst of some interesting times. In between reading The Beautiful Struggle, I read a YA book titled, Jimi and Me by Jaime Adoff (son of the late Virginia Hamilton and Arnold Adoff a poet). Jaime talks about fatherhood just a little bit differently that Ta-Nehisi. Although Adoff’s book is fiction, the story line itself is very real. Keith’s father is shot and killed in a store. Keith and his mom must move from the big city to some rural town in Ohio. Keith loves Jimi Hendrix, like his father, did, and Jimi’s music sustains him until he learns something else about his father. I’m not going to reveal that. However, Jaime’s writing style is very poetic and rhythmic; very concise in character development and storytelling. It would definitely appeal to YA; but adults would love it, too. I know I did!

  12. I have completed the following from my list: Drama in the Church and More Drama in the Church both by Dynah Zale, Playing God by Michelle McKinney Hammond, Single Mama Drama and More Single Mama Drama both by Kayla Perrin, Basketball Jones by E Lynn Harris, Running from Mercy by Terra Little, Orange Mint and Honey by Carleen Brice, The Company We Keep by Mary Monroe and The Sins of the Father by Angela Benson. (My review will be posted by the end of the weekend. Sorry for my delay.) I have completed the following that aren’t on my list: The Single Mom’s Little Book of Wisdom by Cassandra Mack, Preacher Man Blues by Jihad, Another Woman’s Husband by Angel Mechelle and the The Million Dollar Divorce by RM Johnson. I’m currently reading Jewel by Beverly Jenkins. This month has been rather busy and I am hoping to get the few books completed by the end of the month.

  13. I only have The Shack left to read, for the life of me I don’t know why I haven’t read it yet…taking a road trip this weekend, so maybe I can read it then…

    Blessings!

  16. Since this is my favorite challenge this year, I took a chance at trying to put all my Apooo books on one page. I am trying to do this with other challenges too. Anyway, if it’s alright, I changed my last book, “Jantzen’s Gift” by Pam Cope and used an audiobook. The audio book is the poem read by Pearl Cleage. I know all of you have heard or read it. This is my thirteenth book. I would love to have that sound track on my blog. I’m still looking.

Thanks so much for having me here. If I made any booboos with my reading challenge please get in touch with me.

  17. Finished reading From Dusk to Dawn. Interesting read. I’m sure it will generate some discussion at our bookclub meeting in July. My next book, The Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell, is a fascinating read. He is making the case that success comes from a variety of factors. I’ll share more later.

  18. Well, I’m still working on my blog or messing up my blog and not on purpose. I hope all of you can find me by looking at my first blog http://ilovelovebooks.blogspot.com. At the bottom of the page are three blogs one of which is the Apooo Book Challenge. One day I will learn how to blog, I hope.

  19. I’m back again. I’m sorry to be such a bother. Finally, I have the address correct. I still have my main blog, http://ilovelovebooks.blogspot.com.

Also, I now have Apooo Book Challenge on a blog by itself. I’m trying to separate all my challenges. If there is a hard way of doing stuff, I can find it. Here is the Apooo Book Challenge blog.

Please stop by. Hope all of you have a good day. Stay cool!
