I’m completing the second book as I type
Hey Ms. Mary which two books have you read?
I have read 3 books:
Seduicing the Matchmaker(I loved this. It was a great romance)
In Blood We Trust(I hated this book. It was a review book and it got a 2 from me.)
The Holiday Inn (The stories were cute, but I really enjoyed Farrah Rochon’s story the best)
Dying for Revenge(reading the last few chapters, I put it down in December so I have to finish it)
I think I will go to a galley after this. Not sure which one, I have 3 to read and I am not really excited about any of them.

I have completed the following:
“The Right Mistake” by Walter Mosley – I give this a 3. There were things that I liked about this book but there were enough things that I think could have been improved upon to make this a better read
“Crossing the Continent 1527 – 1540: The Story of the First African-American Explorer of the American South” by Robert Goodwin – I give this book a 4.0. As a non-fiction it reads more like a novel as the explores who Estaban was and what were his accomplishments. Learned a lot about a part of US history I did not know.
Have started:
“All The Way” by Kimberley White – It was on my list for the APOOO 13 challenge
“The Darkness” by L.A. Banks as I realized that I need to finish the last two books in the VHS series before the final book comes out at the beginning of Feb
“The Wasted Vigil” by Nadeem Aslam – I have read the first 100 pages and I do not want to put down. Interesting characters, very interesting storyline. This book was not on my APOOO 13 list but the good reviews have promted me to read this book and I have not been disappointed so far
Nina’s Got A Secret — Brian W. Smith (read. review is posted.)
The Pledge— Chandra Sparks Taylor (read. review to post in Feb.)
Designated Hitters— Flex & Crystal Perkins-Stell (read. review posted for self)
Dirty Little Angel— Erica Hilton (read. review is posted.)
We Take This Man— Candice Dow & Daaimah Poole (read. review to post)
The Bishop’s Daughter—Tiffany L. Warren
Who You Wit— Paula Chase (read review to post.)
The Sweetest Taboo—Risque
Desperate Hoodwives— Meesha Mink & Deneesha Diamond
Erotic City—Pynk
Ghetto Resume—Freddie Simmons
Chante’s Song—Donneil D. Jackson (read. review to post)
Ski Mask Way—Randy Ski Thomas
I’ve been able to breeze through a few books. My kids just went back to school today, so my reading may not be as easy since I’ll be back on homework duty. I’m now trying to decide what I want to read next. I don’t know about you’ll, but I see how many pages are in a book if I can’t decide.
This challenge has been great since I’ve been putting off reading books already on my shelves. I should’ve added more books that I didn’t get to last year. I’ll do that in the second quarter.

Dera,
Did you read her books BUTTERSCOTCH BLUES and SOME SUNDAY? I ask because I absolutely loved those titles, but I’ve never read anything else by her and wondered if it was more or less the same. I have to admit saying it’s already one of the best for “09 it has piqued my interest.
Nardsbaby´s last blog post..Nardsbaby gave 5 stars to: Designated Hitters
I have already read:
Sinful Chocolate by Adrienne Byrd
A Preacher’s Passion by Lutishia Lovely
Both of these were excellent reads. Great storylines and a lot of drama!!
I am currently reading:
In Love With a Younger Man by Cheryl Robinson
My next reads will be:
Keep The Faith by Faith Evans (I’ve started it, but I haven’t finished!!)
Tale of A Train Wreck Lifestyle by Crystal Lacey Winslow
I’ll check in next week, if not before!!
Dera,
Where did you find Red Light, Green Light by Margaret Johnson-Hodge? I live in CA, and I’ve been to bookstores in LA area and Oakland area (where I live) and haven’t found it anywhere. I guess I’ll have to order it from Amazon, if I don’t find it soon. I love her writing!!
Angelia…Congrats…
Beverly…WOW…you are quite the diverse reader!
Nards–when are you reading the Bishop’s Daughter…that one is on my TRL and look forward to hearing your thoughts on the Sweetest Taboo (I think I read that one…lol). Oh yeah give Red Lights, Green Lights a chance…it’s different from the other two.
Jessica…I’m impressed…and yes I think you’re going to have to order Red Light, Green Light.
Ladies…ya’ll are some reading souls…definitely getting your read on!
Well I read more like 1.5 lol. I started Where the Line Bleeds but had to put it down for a second. I will pick it back up in a week or so. I completed Big Juicy Lips by Allison Hobbs. I gave it a 4. It was a good read. I’m starting on my 3rd book Tale of a Train
Wreck Lifestyle by Crystal Lacey Winslow
Jessica you will like Keep the Faith. I really enjoyed it. My older sister (who never likes any of the books I read) made me keep telling her details about the book. She was just as interested in it as I was.
I finished The Bishop’s Daughter by Tiffany Warren and Seduction and Lies by Donna Hill. Both books were good. I’m working on a manuscript so I haven’t had a chance to write any reviews for either book—I would recommend them both.
Shelia´s last blog post..New Book Cover – The Lip Gloss Chronicles
Okay Ms. Mary spill it…give me details about Keep the Faith…LOL.
LOL. It was just drama after drama. She really gave all the details of her life from beginning to know. She told all about her and BIG and he really did her dirty…her and tupac who also did her dirty…the fight with Lil’ Kim…her departure from Bad Boy…Now I have to see that movie Notorious to see how they portrayed her
Dang since they did her so dirty (which I already knew) why did she stay with them…did she tell any of that?
well she was never with Tupac, he just said that and it became a huge thing….she stayed with Big cuz she really loved him and neither of them ever discussed a divorce….he never hid his cheating from her…they separated but never officially divorced…she got with him one last time and thats when she ended up pregnant with his son…i believe they were still married when he died
I’ve completed 3 of my Challenge books.
Where There’s Smoke by Terra Little
Beneath the Bruises by Dywane Birch
My Invisible Husband by Shelia Goss
Enjoyed them all and recommend any of them. Currently reading book 4 – A DOLLAR OUTTA FIFTEEN CENT 3 by Caroline McGill.
Ms. Toni´s last blog post..Ms Toni gave 5 stars to: Tappin’ On Thirty
Hello ladies,
I’ve read 3 of my challenge books: Hooker to Housewife by Joy King which I posted the review on amazon I gave it a 4, Superstar by Joy King I gave it a 4, and Queen Bitch by Deja King I gave a 4, love the Bitch series. I love Ms. King’s writing…..
Okay, so far I have completed 3 challenge books and 4 that were not on my list due to my other challenge books do not come out until the end of the month and in February..
Challenge Books:
Hoodlife- D. Diamond/M.Mink- 4
The Darkness- L.A. Banks-5
The Shadows- L.A. Banks-5
Not on list:
This Time For Real- Yahrah St. John-5
Road to Seduction- Ann Christopher-4
Temptation and Lies- Donna Hill-5
Better on Top-Delilah Dawson-3.5
1. Midnight by Sista Souljah. I liked the book but was disappointed because it wasn’t what I expected.
2. Dying for Revenge by Eric Jerome Dickey. In the beginning, it took a minute to get into. It didn’t get interesting til the end.
3. The S.W.A.P. Game by Brian W Smith. I don’t really know what to say about this book. It wasn’t good or bad. It was mediocre. I was able to read it in a day’s time. I read this book because I read another book that included some of the characters. I wanted to see what these characters were about.
4. Up Pops the Devil by Angela Benson. I really enjoyed this one. The characters were all life like; they could all be compared to someone we all actually know. Preacher came back and really had to rely on his newly found faith to get him through.
5. Neglected Souls by RIchard Jeanty. The author did a great job with this book. The emotions jumped right off the page. The children lived a hard life and were forced to grow up fast. It was good to see that they survived a horrific life. I enjoyed the ending and I’m looking forward to reading the sequel.
6. The Song Yet Sung by James McBride. I’m currently reading this and so far, I’m enjoying it.
I’ve read five of the books and I’m currently working on the sixth.
Happy Sunday People!
Yas,
Came over to let you know that I’m reading ‘The Bishop’s Daughter,’ and loving it!

These are some really good post. I would like to join the 2009 Reading Challenge. I hope it’s not too late. I haven’t gotten a reading list together yet. I do love Walter Moseley. I know he will have a title on my list. I also would like to continue Achebe’s trilogy. I’ve read “Things Fall Apart.”
